Regular I`;eeting of the Board of Commissioners April 21, 1952. Meeting was
called to order by bayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, King, Price and Ramsey and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular meeting of April 14, 1952 and Zoning Board of
Appeals I:'eeting of April 14, 1952 wereread and approved as read.
rursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
t1- 'e curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in Ordinances Num-
bered 5634, 5635 and 5636, (Engineer Job 285), as follows:

• Bids were tabulated by City Engineer.
Commissioner Pr-j.ce moved that contract be awarded to h. J. Taylor Construction
Company as per bid submitted in the amount of X25,515.70; and that check be returned
to unsuccessful bidder. Biotion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirmirig a contract with the P. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain streets
in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with the II. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on certain ,
streets; and the paving and gradin; of a certain public alley in the City of Salina,
and providing; for the �.ssuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the
issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.

appraisers in ascertd ring tl e v aluation of certain lots and pieces of ground liable
to special assessment for the cost of curbing, gutLering and/or paving certain streets
provided or in 0rdinunces Numbered 5634, 5635 and 5636. (Engineer Job 285).
On motion of Commissioner Price appointments;y ere confirmed by the Board of Commis-
siorL-rs. Carried.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Stack Avenue from the center line

of Delaware Avenue to the Last line of first alley East of Delaware Avenue."
On motion of Comm.,ssioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer,
Cobb, idng, Price and Ramsey �5) Nays: (0) iciayor approved the resolution and it
is Numbered 1303.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of laartin Avenue from the center line of Roach
Avenue to the center line of Lewis Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on its

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving with concrete the center parking in Ash Street from Oakdale
Avenue to Penn Avenue; and paving with concrete the center parking in Ash Street
from Penn Avenue to Columbia Avenue."

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for and regulatiriv t:e use of certain lands as a trailer camp as authorized
by Section 13, Ordinance iso. 5549."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its fi_lalaioption the roll was called and the following vote was Y.ad; Ayes:

and it is Numbered 5641..
An ordinance was introdu::ed i'or second reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying special assess lents against certain propert, to pay tree cost of constructing
water service pipes and sewer connections in certain streets in the City of Salina,
Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Price the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption tLe roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:

and it is Numbered 5642.
An (x dinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making
ap ropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following ote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, King, Price and Ramsey (5) gays: W) Tviayor approved the ordinance
and it is 3um0bered A-568.
An ordinance was introdu_ed nor second reading entitled: "An ordinance regu-
latin and limitin{ the time of parking of vehicles on a part of certain streets in
the City of 0alina and providi,rg a penalty for the violation thereof."
A numbe. of ;_postal employees appeared before the Board of Commissioners to
rrotest against the above named ordinance.
City Ljanager was instructed to make count and hold ordinance another week
for passage. Carried.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1306 Curb and gutter Republic Avenue from Sunrise to Roach.
1307 Curb and gutter inez Street from existing curb and gutter west 60 feet.
1306 Paving Sheridan Street from Crawford to Illinois.
Referred to petitioner for more signers.
1309 Sidewalks in Southeast Salina .in the vicinity of 1ieusner School.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution

of Sunr-se Drive to the center line of Roach Street." Resolution was referred
tot he Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curL,ing, guttering and grading of Inez Street from existing curb
and gut Ler, west Sixty (60) feet more or less to the City limits." Resolution was
referred to the Hoard of Commissioners.
A petition was was presented for ,he paving of Delaware Street from Gypsum
A,,enue to Stack Avenue (300 Block on South Delaware) . Referred to City
Lanager.
The following letters presented from City Planning and Zoning Commission:

Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and introduced an ordinance on first
reading. Carried.
An ordinance was introdu.ed for first reading entitled: "Yin ordinance providing
for the vacation of a portion of a certain street in the City of Salina, Kansas."
