Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 23, 1953- Meeting was
called to order by itayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger and Assistant City Attorney Yordy responded. City
Attorney Clark absent.
The minutes of the Regular iuieeting of March 16, 1953 were read and approved
as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Eleventh Street from the center
line of Hamilton Street to the center line of Antrim Street."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Price, namsey and i,enger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1386. •
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 114 Resolution Book Number 5.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving to a width of Forty (40)
feet with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete. over a six-inch rock stabilized base,
Crawford Avenue, from the west line of Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way, thence
east to the west line of Roach Street, extended north and south."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption t1.e roll was called and the followinvote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and alenger (5) Nays: 0) mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1387.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 115 Resolution Bbok Number 5.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading e::titled: "An ordinance
levying special assessments against certain property in the Benefit District to pay
the damages and costs of condemnation and acquiring certain real property in the
City of Salina, Kansas." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commis-
sioners.
The following petitions returned by the City Manager:

from Walnut Street north to Smoky Hill River.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the west side of Third S reet
from the north line of Walnut Street, 350 feet, more or less, to the northtbank of •
the Smoky Hill River." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.

property owned by iJir. Calkins. Ordered filed.
Petition presented from Robert Snell, et al,for sewer on Stapler from
Indiana to Wisconsin.
An ordinance was introdu ed for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of
Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District :dumber 296, and
providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary
Sewer District Number 296, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost
thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said
district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of
bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
Petition filed by J. V. Ryberg, et al for curbing, guttering and paving
Crawford Avenue from Missouri Pacific Hailroad Right-of-way to U. S. Highway No. 81.
Petition referred to City Manager.
Trust Deed, with a deposit of $50.00 presented from Barry Markel, for
perpetual care of Space 5, Lot 32, Block 29, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery of Salina,
Kansas. Approved by Commissioner Price. Carried.
Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Estimate Number 3 in the amount

of $42,310.00 to Frank Fessler for Additions and Alterations to Salina Public
Library. Approved by Commissioner Price. Carried.

40 to 44 inclusive, from M. L. Jarvis, d/b/a Red Top Cab Company, to Taxis, incor-
porated. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Commissioner Price moved that City Manager be authorized to sign renewal
contract with Kenneth H. Baker to operate Idi.niature Steam Train within Oakdale Park,
City of Salina, Kansas. Carried.
Petition presented for curbing and guttering the east side of Fourth Street
from Republic to Lamar. Referred to City Manager.
Plumber and Gas Fitters Bond presentedirom Leroy Fink. Approved by
Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Appraisers reports presented for the construction of Lateral Sanitary
Sewers 14umbered 284 to 291 inclusive. Commissioner Cobb moved that City
Cle rk be instructed to publish notice for hearing on said reports to be given 1vonday,
April 6th, 1953 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Commissioner Wenger moved that reports be approved as read. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
