Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 16, 1953• Meeting
was. called to order by Mayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer,
Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 9, 1953 were read and approved
as read.
City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Lateral Sanitary Sewer
Number 295. Commissioner Ramsey moved that same be approved by the Board of
Commissioners. Carried.
City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Franklin Street ;Storm
Sewer. Commissioner Ramsey moved that same be approved by the Board of Com-
rrrissioners and that City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids to be received
up to and including March 30th, 1953 at 7:30 o'clock P. Id. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the repeal of Ordinance Number 5748."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered 5766.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Martin Avenue
from the east line of Lewis Avenue to the west line of Ohio Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1384.
The above resolution is copied in full on Page 111 Resolution Bcok Number 5.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "Ari ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered A-636.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was, called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered A-637.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution providing
for the zoning of certain lands for a specified use as made and provided in Section
13 of Ordinance Number 5519."
On motion of Commissioner Price the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1385.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 112 and 113, Resolution
Book Number 5.
Fireworks Ordinance introduced for first reading.
Corrrmissioner Ramsey moved to table the ordinance pending the outcome of
Fireworks Bill now being considered by the State Legislature. Carried.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1363 For curbing, guttering and paving Crawford Avenue from Union Pacific Rail-
road -f -o Roach Street.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving to a width of Forty (40)
Feet, with two-inch rot mixed asphaltic concrete over a six-inch rock stabilized baste,
Crawford Avenue from the west line of Union Pacific Railroad riglt-of-way, thence
east to the west line of Roach Street, extended north and south Resolution was
referred to the Board of Commissioners.

1371 For curbing and guttering Eleventh Street from Hamilton to Antrim.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Eleventh Street from the center
line of Hamilton Street to the center line of Antrim Street." Resolution was
referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Petition was presented for the curbing and guttering the West side of
Third Street from Walnut Street north to the Smoky Hill River. Petition re—
ferred to City Manager.
Mausoleum Deed presented from 0. D. Walker for the sale of Crypts Numbered
472a nd 473, Hillcrest Memorial Mausoleum. Approved by Commissioner Price.
Carried.

Recommending that Lot 20, Kirwin Avenue, Grounds of Kansas Vtesleyan Univer-
sity, from Zone Ilk" to Zone tti)" be denied. However, the Commission does recommend
the rezoning of said lot from Zone "A" to Zone "B".
Commissioner Wenger moved to accept report and City Clerk give thirty days
notice in the official City paper to rezone said lot to Zone "B". Carried.

University be rezoned from Zone "A" to 'Zone "B".
Commissioner Cobb moved to accept report and City Clerk give thirty days
notice in the official City paper to rezone said Lot to Zone "B". Carried.
Recommending that the two separate petitions submitted by Albert V. Schwartz,
Jr., for the rezoning of the South 330 feet of the West 180 feet of the North 1/2 of
the SW 1/4 of Section 14, Township 14, Range 3 West be consolidated and that all of
said property be rezoned from Zone "All to Zone "F".
