FEBRUARY 23, 1953 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners February 23, 1953• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Barcafer, the roll was called and Commissioners Barcafer, Cobb, Price, Ramsey and Assistant City Attorney Yordy responded. Commis- nioner, , Wenger and City Attorney Clark absent. The minutes of he Regular Meeting of February 16, 1953 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of Februar�r 16, 1953 were read and approved as read. Bid was eceived for the construction of sidewalks in Sunrise Addition, in the vicinity of Heusner School, as follows: Cecil Saumand Arnold 6aum $5028.55 Engineer's Estimate 47076.50 Commissioner Price moved to accept bid of Cecil Saum and Arnold Saum, as per bid submitted in the amount of $5028.55. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with Cecil Saum and Arnold Saum, d/b/a Saum Brothers, for the construction of certain sidewalks in the City of Salina, Kansas, hereinafter designated as Engineering Job Number 301, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered DH -1 to DH -32 inclusive, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Barcafer, Cobb, Price, xamsey W Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5759. Applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented as follows: Nits. Olive Creek The Corral 121 S. Fifth Commissioner Ramsey moved that application be approved and license granted subject to food inspection. Carried. Kim Q. Low Kim's Steak House 1837 S. Ninth Commissioner Price moved that application be approved and license granted subject to food inspection. Carried. Plumber and Gas Fitter Bond presented from Yeagley Plumbing Company. Approved by Commissioner Price. Carried. Petition presented2rom Breon and Williams for sanitary sewer in Block 3, Claflin's Addition to the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. Referred to the City Manager. Mayor appointed Irene Bjurstrom as a member of Library Board for a term of four years from February 1, 1953• Appointment confirmed by Commissioner Price. Carried. City Engineer filed plans and specifications for Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 294. Approved by Commissioner Price. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Cobb the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
