Regular iaeeting of the Board of Commissioners July lU, 1950• Lieeting
was called to order by iJayor King, the roll was called and Commissioners King,
Ramsey, Stephenson and 'iiebb and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner
Price absent.
The minutes of the Regular meeting of June 26, 19.50 and July 3, 1950 were
road and approved as read.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for
the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 251 and 252 as follows:
H. J. Taylor Construction Company 0,096.55
Salina Crane & Shovel Company ,013.50
City Engineer's Estimate $3,980.00

Commissioner Webb moved that contract be awarded to H.J.Taylor Construction
Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $3,896.55• payor authorized to sign
contract on behalf of the City of Salina, and check returned to unsuccessful Bid-
der. 16otion adopted.
Layor appointed J. Larl Waytt, John Frederick and Vk. F. Grosser, Jr.,
to act as appraisers for Lateral Sewers 'lumbered 251 and 252. Approved by Com-
missioner Stephenson. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina heretofore
designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 251 and 252, and providing for the
issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale
of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the hoard of Commissioners.
Dr. w. S. Nelson, Jr., and others, appeared before the Board of Commis-
sioners regarding a full time Health Officer and a County Health Unit in Saline
County. Dr. Nelson to find out when man could be here and arrange joint meeting
with Committee, City Commissioners and County Commissioners.
Zoning, Urdinance was presented and held over until July 24, 1950.
Petition to add draft Manor Addition to the City was taken up. Referred
to City 1danager to contact Horne Development :Company ori building of a certain number
of douses before taking into City.
Petition was presented from H. lv. Crosswy to vacate Woodlawn Avenue from
Eleventh Street west to City limits in '''Jest Evergreen Park Addition. Referred to

City 'Tanning Com mision.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
Sanitary Sewer to serve Block 2, iiorningside Addy -tion.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading en-itled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of
Salina, 'ansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 254, and pro-
viding for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary
Sewer District Number 254 so created; and providing for the payment of the cost
thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the propert in said
district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of
bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the board of Com-
missioners.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the paving of Eleventh Street from the north line of harsh Avenue to
the south line of harailton Street. Referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution
relating to the paving of Seventh Street from the south line of Woodland Avenue
to the north line of Grand Avenue." Referred to the Board of Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and paving and grading of Jewell Avenue from the
east line of Osborne Avenue tothe east line of Lots 33 and 34 on Jewell Avenue."
Referred to he Board of Coruaissioners.
Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed Final Estimate and letter of approval
on Sewage Disposal rlant, to Brown and Brown Inc., and Johnson Brothers Construction
Company in the amount of x'37,664.04• Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept.
Carried.

payment of certain claims."

City Lngincer submitted plaits and specifications for Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 253. On motion of Commissioner Stephenson approved by the
Board of Commissioners. Carried.
City Zngineer filed Estimate Number 1 in the amount of gy34,522.84 to H. J.
Taylor Construction Company for curbing, guttering and paving improvements provided
for in Jeb l�Ium.Jer 264. On motion of Commissioner 4ebb approved by the Board of
Commissioners. Carried.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A tesolution authorizing and
providing for the issuance of Temporary 'dote of the City of Salina, Kansas, in
the sum of 134,522.84 to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets
in the City of Salina to be designated as Series PT -6 pending the issuance of
bonds to pay the cost of said work."
On motion of Commissioner duebb the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Bing,
Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (4) Mays: (0) . Commissioner Price absent. I,1ayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1187.
