Meeting was called to order by mayor King, the roll was called and Commissioners King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webband Acting City Attorney Yordy responded. Commissioner Price and City Attorney Clark absent. The minutes of the Reg..lar Meeting of June 19th, 1950 and Special Meeting of June 19, 1950 were read and approved as read. City Engineer filed plans and specifications for Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 252. Commissioner -debb moved to accept and City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including July 10th, 1950 at 7:30 o'clock r. lil. Aotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the calling and holding of an election of the qualified electors of the • City of Salina, 1Sansas, to vote upon the question of authorizing the Board of Commis- sioners of said City to issue General Obligation Lunicipal Bonds of the City in an amount of not to exceed $360,000.00 for the purpose of paying a part of the cost of constructing and extending works for the purpose of supplying said City and its in- habitants with water, the nature of said construction and extension being, to -wit: a Water Softening Plant and Appurtenances." On motion of Commissioner Ydebb the ordinance was read and adopted b sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: iSing, Ramsey, atephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent. :ayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5491. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 253 and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Num- ber 253, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof nd for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment of the cost of such construction of and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." • 1 On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent. mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5492. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance re- lating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of constructing lateral sanitary sewer in Lateral Sanitary Sewer District ivo. 248 and relating to and provid- ing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: King, Ramsey, otephenson and nebb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent. 1:,ayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5493- A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to the issuance of Temporary Notes in the amount of 428)0.92 and :782.70." On motion of Commissioner Vvebb the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: King, Ramsey, Ctephenson and 6gebb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent. i:.ayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1186. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 233 Resolution Book Number 4. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Webb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: :Sing, Aamsey, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent. 1�a.yor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-501. The following pet tions were presented: For paving Seventh Street between Woodland and Grand. For paving Eleventh btreet between harsh and Hamilton. Above petitions were referred to City Manager. 102 i'etition was presented from Leslie H. Gebhart, rresident of The Home Development Company of Salina, Kansas, Inc., to take Kraft Manor Addition into City. Commissioner iVebb made motion to hold over until meeting of July 10, 1950, for consideration. Vd'illis Elliottand A. G. Aldridge appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding location of Statue of Liberty which the Boy Scouts are going to purchase. Referred to the City manager. K.ayor king appointed Dr. John C. 1 tchell a member of the Recreation Commis- sion, for a term of four years from June 9, 1950, to replace Dan Bolen. Commissioner Ramsey moved that appointment be confirmed. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Hoard of Commissioners adjourned.
