Regular Leeting of the Board of Commissioners March 20, 1950. keeting
was called to order by Acting kayor Stephenson, the roll was called and Commission-
ers King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb and City Attorney Clark responded.
Commissioner Price absent.
The minutes of the Regular uieetiiig of march 13, 1950 were read and approved
as read.
A petition was filed by the Standard Oil Company to rezone from "A" Resi-
dential to "C" Commercial the South 1/2 of Lots 8 and 9 in Block 1, Fruitland
Addition. Referred to City Planning Commission.
A petition was filed by the Robinsonvilling Company for reopening of North
Seventh Street as vacated by Ordinance Number 2152. Referred to City Planning
Commission and City hianager to make check on fire hazards connected with properties.
Band Contract for the year 1950 was presented and on motion of Commissioner •
King approved by tiie Board of Commissioners. Lotion adopted.
Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that
East 65 feet of Lot 42, and all of Lot 40, Block 1, in Van Trine's Addition not be
rezoned from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial. Commissioner Webb moved that
recommendation be accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Lotion adopted.
Letter was presented from City Planning Commission recommending that future
petitions for rezoning any more property on South Ninth Street from Kirwin Street to
Ifialnut Street not even be considered. IViotion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain lateral sanitary sewer in the City of Salina, heretofore
designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District 248, and providing for the issuance of
temporary notes to pay the -cost -thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Viebb (4) iJays: (0) Commissioner
?rice absent. Acting iv;ayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5455.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Price absent.
Acting ieiayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-491. •
uVm. Hansen appeared about rezoning his property in the 1700 Block on South
Ninth Street. City Manager stated he would have City Engineer draw up plot plan
and report next honday, at which time City Commissioners will give Pfr. Hansen an
answer.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of
Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 249, and pro-
viding for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary
Sewer District Number 249, so created, and providing for the payment of the cost
thereof and for tine levying of special assessments against the propert in said
district for the payment of the cost of such construction of and for the issuing
of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering and paving and grading of Clafli n Avenue
from the west line of L-eventh Street to the east line of Pershing Street."
Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Go= -a ssioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Special ivieeting of the Board of Commissioners Larch 20, 1950. Leeting was
called to order by Acting ivayor Stephenson, the roll was called and Commissioners
Stephenson, fiiiig, Ramsey and 14ebb and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner
Price absent.
Meeting was held for the purpose of. acting on the appra.secs reports for
the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 240, 241, 242, 243 and 244;
and for paving the alley lying between Twelfth Street and Thirteenth Street from
Bishop Street, south to Lot 6, 'Nelfth Street, Weaver's 2nd Addition; and alley
lying between Tenth Street and Eleventh Street, from Woodland Avenue to a point
200 feet south.
The appraisers reports for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Num-
bered 240, 241, 242, 243 and 244 were taken up by the Board of Commissioners.
• George R. Landers and Earl J. Mclanney appeared regarding Lateral Sanitary
Sewer Number 243, and thought that lots should all be the same, $350.00. Com-
missioner 14ebb moved that appraisers report be changed so that Lots 25, 26, 27 and 28
would be appraised for D350.00. Motion adopted.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve the appra sers reports for Lateral
Sanitary Sewers Numbered 240, 241, 242 and 244 and Lateral Sanitary Sewer number 243
as amended. Motion adopted.
The appraisers reports for paving the alley lying between Twelfth Street
and Thirteenth Street from Bishop Street south to Lot 6, Twelfth Street, Veaver's
Second Addition; and alley lying between Tenth Street and Lleventh Street, from
Woodland Avenue to a point 200 feet south, were taken up by the Board of Commission-
ers.
Commissioner Ransey moved that reports be approved as read. kotion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance re-
lating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces
of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of constructing lateral
sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts numbered 240, 241, 242, 243 and
244, relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relat-
ing to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces
of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of grading and paving of a
certain north and south alley between Twelfth Street and Thirteenth Street, from
the south line of Bishop Street to the south line of Lot 6, extended west, on Twelfth
Street in 1Veaver's Second Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas; and for the paving
• of the alley lying between Tenth Street and Eleventh Street from the south line of
Woodland Avenue thence south 200 feet, and relating to and providing for the collec-
tion and payment of such assessments." Ordinance was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
