The minutes of the Regular iw,eeti.ig of January 16, 1)50 were read and approved as read. U. C. 51_offiier appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding petition for the vacating of 14 foot strip of ground along the west side of Fourth Street from Republic avenue to Claflin Avenue. Commissioner Ramsey moved to vacate eight feet on the west side of Fourth Street from Claflin Avenue to Republic Avenue. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the vacation of certain portions of Fourth Street in the City of Salina." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. Two persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of the South 25 feet of Lot 12, on Thirteenth Street, Weaver's Second Addition from "C►' Commercial to ►D" Light industrial. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the removal of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the "C'► Commercial D.,_strict as that district is defined by Section 5 of Ordinance Vumber 3188 and said ordinance as amended, and for the inclusion of said lands in the "D" Light industrial District as that district is defined by Section 6 of Ordi- nance Number 3138 and providing for the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was re- ferred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented from Paine Abbott and Kathryn Abbott, asking for the rezoning of the �vest 1/2 of Lot )2 on Eighth Street and the 1Yest 1/2 of Lot 911 on Eighth Street, of the Urig�i_nal Town of Salina from 'B►► Coruaercial to "C" Commer- cial. lilt. Abbott was present and advised he could operate Boarding and Rooming House as is, so pet__tion was ordered filed. Carried. Commissioner Stephenson made motion of levy a License Tax on Alcoholic Liquor Distributors at P1250.00 per year. On roll call the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey and Stephenson (4) Nays: Webb (1). An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying a License Tax on Alcoholic Liquor Distributors with premises situate within the CLty of Salina and prescribing a penalty for the violation thereof." On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Price, King, E amsey and Stephenson (4) Nays: Webb (1) Mayor • approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5446. An ordinance was intr:;duced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providyng for the amendment of Section 10 of Ordinance Number 5237, and providing for the repeal of the original of said Section 10." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter was received from the City Planning Commission recommending a 4.4 foot set -back on tLe west front of Lots 74, 76, 78, 80, 82, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94, )6 aid )8 on Ninth Street in the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. City Clerk was instructed to give thirty day notice of intent to change set -back to 4.4 feet. Carried. iyayor trice sub,1itted the names of bliss Helen Carlin and Rev. Robert Steiger as members of the Library Board for a term of four years from February 1, 1950. On motion of Commissioner 'Webb appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commis- sioners. Lotion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the vacation of a portion of a certain street in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Webb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, i'dng, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the or- dinance and it is Numbered 5447. • On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
