Regular leeting of the Board of Commissioners January 16, 1950. Meet-
ing was called to order by Mayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners
Price,King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Iv,eeting of January 9, 1950 were read and ap-
proved as read.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to decontrol rents in the City of Salina and
instruct the City Attorney to draw up formal resolution. On roll call the following
vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey and Webb (4) days: Stephenson (1)
Carried.
Commissioner Stephenson moved to approve nine Cereal Malt Beverage Applica-
tions. Carried.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to approve eleven taxicab appli;ations for the

Bell Taxi and seventeen for the Radio Cab. Carried.
A petition was presented for he construction of a sanitary sewer connect-
ing with the lateral now existing in the north end of Block 1, Stack Place and
extending south serving Lots 9 to 30 inclusive and such additional lots or blocks
as the Commission may desire. Petition was referred to the City Manager.
A petition was presented from U. C. Shoffner, et al to vacate. a 14 foot
strip of ground alone the west side of Fourth Street from Republic to Claflin.
Referred to the City Manager.
Concrete Construction Bond was presented from Fred Briegel. Approved by
Commissioner Stephenson.
Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that
north 88 feet of Lot 4, Block 1, Van 'Fine's Addition at Third Street and Prescott
Avenue; and the East 6.4 feet of the north 88 feet of Lot 3, Block 1, in Van Trine's
Addition not be rezoned from "A" Residential to "B" Residential. Commissioner King
moved that recommendat-on be accepted by the Board of Commissioners. Motion
adopted.
Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission regarding rezoning
of Lots 88, 90, 92, 94, 96 and 98 and South 1/2 of vacated Russell Street on Ninth
Street in the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. Referred to the City kanager.
Enoch Harris of the Salina Transit Company appeared before the Board of
Commissioners regarding increase in bus fares.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of Section 10 of Ordinance Ivo. 5237, and providing for

the repeal of the original of said Section 10." Referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providinb for the removal of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the
"C" Commercial District as that District is defined by Section 5 of Ordinance ;Dumber
3168 and said ordinance as amended, and for the inclusion of said lands in the "D"
Light .industrial District as that district is defined by Section 6 of Ordinance
iumuer 3188 and providing for the proper uses t,ereof."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Price, ming, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5413.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the inclusion of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas, in the
"C" Commercial District as that district is defined by Section 5 of Ordinance Num-
ber 3188 and the amendments thereto and providing for the proper use thereof."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor ap-
proved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5444.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading ratifying and confirming
a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of

certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, heretofore designated as
Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 245, 246 and 247, and providing for the issuance of
temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds."

On motion of Commissioner ging the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Price, Fling, Ramsey, Stephenson and vuebb (5) Nays: (0) I�a.yor approved
the ordinance and it is Numbered 5445.
Commieeioner Stephenson moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading
vacating 10 -foot strip from the east side of Tenth Street between North Street
and Lincoln Avenue. Lotion a dopted.
Mayor Price appointed Commissioner L. F. Stephenson as the City's repre-
sentative of Salina Community Chest. Carried.
Commissioner Webb moved t :at City ltiianager make arrangements with Committee
on 1Yiarch of Dimes with reference to, Parking P,lieter Dimes. Carried.
Robert C. ideilson appeared before the Board of Commissioners and withdrew
his application for Cereal r"alt Beverage License.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by Sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and'Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-185.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (3) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-486.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to the issu-
ance of Temporary Motes in the amount of $32,235.42•"
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the resolution was adopted as read
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Price, ling, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Mays: (0) Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 1163.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 205 Resolution Book
Number 4.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying a License Tax on Alcoholic Liquor Distributors with premises situate
within the City of Salina and prescribing a penalty for the violation thereof."
Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the Board of Commissioners
adjourned. -
