Regplar I:eeting of the Board of Commissioners December 19, 1949. Meeting
was called to order by Icayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price,
King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular ivieetirg of December 12, 1949 were read and
approved as read.
A petition was presented asking for the passage of a Resolution to
decontrol the City of Salina, Kansas from the Federal Rent Control Law. Com-
missioner King moved that i,iayor send wire to Tyhe uVoods, Rent Expeditor, asking
him for immediate action on decontrol of rent in the City of Salina, Kansas.
Motion adopted.
Arthur Austin appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding his
taxicab drivers license, also Police Officer Looney. Commissioner Stephenson
moved to let Austin keep his badge. Iliotion adopted. •
Verne Brown appeared before the Board of Commissioners regarding his
taxicab drivers license, also Captain Smith. Commissioner King moved that
Taxicab Drivers License be revoked. Lotion adopted.
Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received
for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers slumbered 245, 246 and 247 as follows:
Salina Crane L Shovel Company :9906.00
H.J.Taylor Construction Company 9120.75
City Lngineer's Estimate 9386.50
Commissioner Stephenson moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor
Construction Company as per bid si-binitted in the amount of $9120.75, and check
returned to unsuccessful bidder. Lotion adopted.
Layor appointed J. Larl Wyatt, Am. F. Grosser, Jr., and John Frederick
to act as appraisers in ascertaining the valuation of certain lots and pieces of
ground liable to special assessment for the cost of constructing Lateral Sewers
Numbered 245, 246 and 247, known as Job No. 261. On motion of Commissioner
Stephenson appointments were confirmed by the Board of Commissioners. kotion
adopted.
City iaanager reported that petition against the paving of Front Street
from Bond to Crawford was insufficient. Commissioner Webb moved to
accept report. Motion adopted.
City Planning Commission recommended that South 25 feet of Lot 12 on •
Thirteenth Street, 'cleaver's Second Addition, be rezoned from "C" Commercial to
"D" Light industrial. Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept report and
City Clerk to give thirty days notice of intent to rezone the above described
property. Motion adopted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating tothe revision and codification of the .neral ordinances of the City of
Salina, Kansas, adoptiag said revised and codified ordinances.) and providing for
their publication as "The Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948."
Onrrotion of Commissioner -Webb the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and -t is Numbered 541t2.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) iviayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-482.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted •
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0)
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-483.

Joh-,i Shaver, Architect, appeared before the Board of Commissioners and
presented tabulation of Fire Station bids.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to award General Construction Contract to Busboom
and Rauh in the amount of $124,900.00; Less Alternate No. 13 in the amount of $1600.00
and any of the other Alternates which can be worked out later with Busboom and Rauh.
Lotion adopted:
Commissioner Ramsey moved to award Heating Contract to Gage Plumbing and
Heating Company for X9832.00; less Alternate H-1 in the amount of :3300.00. Lotion
adopted.
Commissioner Viebb moved to award Plumbing Contract to 111id-4est Plumbing
Company for $6528.00. Lotion adopted.
Commissioner Webb moved to award Electrical Contract to General Air Con-
ditioning and Electrical Company for $7687.00; less Alternate E-1 in the amount of
X100.00. Idiotion adopted.
