AUVEMBER 21, 1949
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners 1�overnber 21, 1949. Meeting
was called to order by Acting iu;ayor Stephenson, the roll was called and Commission-
ers King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Vvebb and Acting City Attorney Yordy responded. Com-
m:issioner Price and City Attorney Clark absent.
The minutes of the Regular i,eeting of iiovember 14, 1949 and Canvassing
Board i, eetir_g of igovember 18, 1949 were read and approved as read.
A petition was presented for the paving of Second Street from Ash Street
to Llm Street. Referred to City IiIanager.
Commissioner ming moved that County Advisory Board be requested to
consider the Commissioners recommendations that the housing Expeditor lift all rent
controls immediately from the City of Salina. Motion carried.
Letter was presented from Cha of of Police, L. H. Lay, regarding Cereal •
I;alt Beverage License Number 9644 issued to W. F. Dougherty at 642 north Santa Fe
Avenue, Salina, Kansas. City Attorney was instructed to give him notice to
appear before the Board of Commissioners to show cause why his Cereal Ival.t Beverage
License should not be revoked. Motion carried.
Application for 'taxicab Drivers License was presented from Duane Sweaney.
Commissioner VVebb moved that application be approved. Iviotion adopted.
Petition was presented for construction of a sewer to serve Block 6,
Phillips East Salina Addition and Lots 23 and 24 Surveyor's Plat 8, Salina, Aansas.
Petition referred to City L_anager.
Letter was presented from City Planning Commission recommending that
South 15 feet of Lot 29, Block 1, in North Park Addition be rezoned from "All Resi-
dential to "B" Residential. Commissioner King moved to accept recommenda-
tions and City Clerk be instructed to give thirty days notice in the official City
paper of intent to rezone from "A" Residential to "B" Residential the South 15 feet
of Lot 29, Block 1, in North Park Addition, Salina, Kansas. Lotion adopted.
Letter was presented from City Planning Commission recommending that
Lot 20, Block 44, id litary Addition be rezoned to "C" Commercial. Commissioner
Ramsey moved to accept recommendation of City Planning Commission and that City
Clerk be instructed to give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent
to rezone to "C" Commercial Lot 20, Block 44, military Addition, Salina;.Kansas.
Tviotion carried.
Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that
Lot 6, Block 1, Tucker Park Addition not be rezoned to "C" Commercial. Commissioner
icing moved to accept recommendation of City Planning Commission and not rezone Lot 6,
Block 1, Tucker Park Addition to "C" Commercial. Motion carried. •
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
Onrmtion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
icing, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner rrice absent. Acting
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-479.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation
for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Ramsey, icing, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Price absent. Acting i.ayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered A-480.
Building Application Number 2441 was presented from Salina Farmers Union
Co -Op Oil Company, for building to be erected on Lot 10, Block 3, Pacific Addition.
Commissioner Ramsey moved to allow a 32 foot setback. iuotion adopted.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and paving of 'twelfth Street from the south line of
Broadway Boulevard to the South line of Grand Avenue." Resolution was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
