Meeting was called to order by !ayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb and Acting City Attorney Yordy responded. City Attorney Clark ab sent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 29, 1949 and Special Meeting of September 6, 1949 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Main Sewer "Xtt as follows: Diamond Engineering Company 00,7o8.75 H. J. Taylor Construction Company 28,066.50 City Engineers Estimate in the amount of $33,491.75 was read. by the City Engineer. • Bids were tabulated Commissioner icing moved that contract be awarded to H. Taylor Con- struction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $28,066.50; Mayor authorized to sign contract on behalf of the City of Salina, and check returned to unsuccessful bidder. kation adopted. Taxicab Drivers Applications Numbered 165, 166 and 167 were presented and on motion of Commissioner Ramsey approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution designating City connecting links in State Highway System." On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1144. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 175 Resolution Book Number 4. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price, King, Ramsey, Stephenson and Webb (5) i4ays:: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-472. • Wilson & Company, Engineers, filed the following estimates: Airport No. 11, August $95,215.07, H.J.Taylor Construction Company Airport No. 2, August � 71623.08 H.J.Taylor Construction Company Commissioner King moved that estimates be approved by the Board of Com- missioners. Motion adopted. Wilson & Company, Engineers, filed the following estimate: Sewage Disposal No. 4, August, $51,469.09, Brown & Brown, Inc., and Johnson Bros. Construction Company Commissioner Stephenson moved that Estimate be approved by the Board of Commissioners. Motion adopted. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lots 2, 4 and 6, Block 6, Sunnyside Addition from Class "ti" Residential to Class "B" Residential. Commissioner Stephenson moved that ordinance be introduced for first reading. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the inclusion of certain lands in the City of Salina, Kansas in the 'tB't Residential District as that district is defined by Section 4 of Ordinance Number 3188, and providing for the proper use thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter was presented from City Planning Commission recommending that • East 85 feet of Lot 3, Phillips Addition on Ninth Street be rezoned from Class 'tBtt Residential to Class "C" Commercial. 19 40 Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept recommendation of Planning Board, and that City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official City paper of intent to rezone from Class "B" Residential to Class "C" Commercial the East 85 feet of Lot 3, Phillip's Addition on Ninth Street, City of Salina, Kansas. 1viotion adopted. A petition was presented from St. Johns College, et al., protesting against the paving of Euclid Avenue from Ninth Street to Fifth Street, as provided for in Resolution Number 11.41. Petition was referred to City Manager. A petition was presented for the extension of sewer through Block 6, Stack Place Addition to the City of Salina, from Stack Avenue to Greeley Avenue. Petition was referred to City Manager. A petition was presented for the rezoning of West 47 feet of Lot 21, on Beloit Avenue in Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University from "A" Residential to "B" Residential. Petition was referred to City Planning Commission. C-ty Engineer filed plans and specifications for curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in Ordinance Numbers 5.16 and 51417, known as Job Number 259. Commissioner King moved that estimates be accepted and approved, • and that City Clerk give notice in the official City paper that bids will be received for such improvements up to and including Monday, September 26, 1949 at 7:30 o'clock P. R. D.otion adopted. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing and guttering on the north side of Wilson Street from the west line of Front Street to the east line of Third Street and on the south side of Wilson Street from the west line of Front Street to a point 125 feet west of the west line of Second Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Bids were presented for the printing of 256 Revised Ordinances as follows: Globe Imprint $220.00 Consolidated -Salina 2200.00 Commissioner Webb moved that contract be awarded to Consolidated -Salina, as per bid submitted in the amount of 0"2200.00.
