Regular Leeting of the Board of Commissioners August 29, 1949. Lleeting
was called to order by i�iayor Price, the roll was called and Commissioners Price,
King, Stephenson and Webb and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Ramsey
absent.
The minutes of the Regular ,meeting of August 22, 1949 were read and approved
as read.
Taxicab Drivers Application !dumber 164 was presented, and on motion of
Commissioner Stephenson approved by the hoard of Commissioners.
electric airing Bond presented from Virgil Strunk, and on motion of Commis-
sioner -;vebb approved by the Board of Commissioners.
Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that
Lot ivumber 17, Block 3, in h. L:. I. Addition, be rezoned from Class "C" Commercial,
• to Class "D" Light Industrial. Commissioner Stephenson moved to accept recommen-
dation of Planning Board, and tl.at City Clerk give thirty days notice in the official
City paper of intent to rezone from "C" Commercial to "D" Light Industrial, Lot 17,
Block 3, E. i'Y.". I. Addition, City of Salina, i,ansas. Idiotion adopted.
A petition was presented from M. L. Amos and others in reference to gas
pipe leaks in the 600 Block on SoutF, Ninth Street. Ix. Amos was present and City
Attorney advised him that property owners had recourse in courts on anyone damaging
trees in parking. Referred to City luanager.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the paving of Pershing Street from the south line of Kirwin Avenue to
the nort line of Claflin Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner kd ng resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Price,
King, Stephenson and iiebb (4) mays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent. Liayor
approved the resolution and it is idumbered 1142.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
vacating a certain portion of Russell Avenue in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Webb the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Price, King, Stephenson and 4ebb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Ramsey absent. mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5413.
• An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of constructing
lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 236, 237, 238
and 239, relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments"

On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Price, King, Stephenson and 'vVebb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Ramsey absent. Ivayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5419.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutter-
ing, and grading Claflin Avenue from the west line of Fourth Street to the west
line of Osborne Street; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Harsh Avenue
from the west life of Eighth Street to the east line of Ninth Street; curbing,
gutteri.g and grading of Harsh Avenue from the west line of Seventh Street tot
the east line of Eighth Street; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Wilson
Street from the west line of Sherman Street to the east line of Custer Street; __
and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner King the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Price, King, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing,
guttering, paving and grading of Beloit Street from the west line of Quincy
Street to the west line of Roach Street; and the curbing, guttering, paving and
grading of Republic Avenue from the east line of Osborne Street to the east line
of Quincy Street; and the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Sunrise Drive
from the north line of Beloit Street to the south line of Republic Avenue; and
relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On m otion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll wascalled and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Price, King, Stephenson and Webb (4) mays: (0) Commissioner
King absent. Liayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5421.
An ord.inaice was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of grading and
paving Eighth Streetfrom the north line of Pacific Avenue to the north line of
Harsh tivenue; for the_ grading and paving of Ellsworth Avenue from the west line
of Ninth Street to the east line of Highland Circle; for the grading and paving of
Highland Circle from the south line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of
Jewell Avenue; for the gradin:; and paving of Jewell Avenue from the west line
of i,leventh 6treet to the west line of Pershing Street, and relating to and provid-
ing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Stephenson the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote
was had; Ayes: Price, King, Stephenson and Webb (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is i'lumbered 5122.
A resolution was introduced entitled: "A Resolution relating to the
issuance of Temporary mote in the amount of X1894.93."
On motion of Commissioner Nebb the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Price, King, Stephenson and Webb (4) Mays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent.
b.ayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 1143.

City rrgineer filed his approval for installing Sewage Pump for Liain
Sewer "'+l" to H. J. Taylor Construction Company, in the amount of :1894.93. On
motion of Commissioner Grebb approved by the Board of Commissioners. Idotion
adopted.
A petition was presented for street light on Eighth Street between Ash
Street and Elm Street. Petition was referred to the City hanager.
A petition was presented for the rezoning of the East 65 feet of Lot 3,
on Ninth Street, in Phillips Addition, from "B" Residential to "C" Commercial.
Petition was referred to the City Planning Commission.
