Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 9th, 1956• Iuieeting
was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes,
Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 2, 1956; and Meeting of Board
of Zoning Appeals of October 21 1956 were r ead and approved as read.
Mayor appointed Earl A. Morgan, a member of Board of Public Welfare to fill
vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. D. E. Lindberg.
Appointment confirmed by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
viding for the paving and grading of Ellsworth Avenue _ twenty-eight (28) feet wide
from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch rolled rock base, from the west line of Sunrise Drive to the east line of Norton
Street; curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Morrison Avenue thirty-three (33)
feet wide back of curb to back of curb with two (2 inch hot mix, over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the east line of Montrose to the west line of College Avenue;
curbing, guttering, paving and grading of 'jwelfth Street thirty-three (33) feet wide
back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the north line of Broadway Boulevard to the south line of Wood-
land Avenue; curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Twelfth Street thirty-three
(33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two l2) inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch rolled rock base, from the south line of Woodland Avenue to the north
line of Pacific Avenue; curbing, guttering and paving of Woodland Avenue thirty-three
(33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a
six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to the west
line of Twelfth Street; paving and grading of Antrim Avenue twenty-eight (28) feet
wide toe of gutter t oloe of gutter with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6)
inch rolled rock base, from the east line of Ninth Street to t he west lire of Eighth
Street; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed
and the manner of payment of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Y yor approved the ordinance
and it is Numbered 6096.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the paving and grading of Charlotte Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28)
feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the east line of Gebhart Street tothe
west lire of Fourth Street; curbing, guttering and paving of Crawford Avenue, on the
north side from the center li.:e of Viemont Avenue to the City limits; paving and
grading of Connecticut Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter
to toe of gutter from the north line of Gypsum Avenue to the north line of Stapler
Avenue; paving and grading of Eleventh Street with concrete twenty-eight (28) feet
wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the south line of Jewell Avenue to the north
line of Kirwin Avenue; paving and grading of Grand Avenue with concrete, twenty-eight
(28) feet wide toe of gutter tot oe of gutter, from the west lite of Thirteenth Street
to the center line of Broadway Boulevard; paving and grading of Haven Avenue with con-
crete twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the east line of
Viemont Avenue to the west line of Whittinghill Avenue; curbig, guttering and grading
of the west side of Roach from the center line of earl Avenue toche center li-e of
Leslie Avenue; paving and grading of Sherman Street twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe
of gutter to toe of gutter with concrete from the north line of Republic Avenue to the
north line of Wilson Street; paving and grading of Sherman Street with concrete, twen-
ty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the north line of Franklin
Street to .he south line of Wilson Street; paving and grading of Tenth Street _with
concrete twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the south line
of Pacific Avenue to the center line of Broadway Boulevard ; paving and grading of
Twelfth Street with concrete from the south line of Washington Street to the north line
of Prescott Avenue, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, how the same shall
be assessed and the manner of payment of he cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger
and it is Numbered 6097. (5) Nays: (0) Liayor approved the ordinance
Audit contract D. N. Turner for year 1956.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Commissioner Lake moved that City Manager furnish information for next meeting
regarding no parking on Crawford Avenue from Highland Avenue to Ainth Street.
Petition presented for the paving with two-inch hot mix, Lewis Avenue from
Claflin to Russell. Referred to City Manager.
Petition presented for the closing of the east and west alley between
Eleventh Street &nd Twelfth Street, and between the 200 and 300 blocks.
Petition referred to City Planning Commission.

Petition presented from verner C. Smith for closing of alley from Quincy to
Osborne between Kirwin and Glaflin, with the City retaining necessary easements. _
Commissioner Ramsey moved that ordinance be introdu.:ed for first reading.
