Leeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and Acting City Attorney Bengtson. City Attorney Barta absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 25, 1956; Special keeting of ISeptember 25, 1956; and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of September 25, 1956, were j read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the paving and grading of Russell Avenue twenty-eight (28) feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 72 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch rolled rock base, from the east line of Lewis Avenue, 298.73 feet." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes , Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger 6) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it j is Numbered 1752. i The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 159 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution re- lating tothe curbing, guttering and grading of Woodlawn Avenue, on the south side, _ from the east line of Pershing Street to the west line of Eleventh Street." An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance re- lating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 346 and 348, and relating to and providing for collection and payment of such assessments." Partial Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $33,283.49 to McCollum Con- struction Company for construction of Southern View Addition Storm Sewer (Job 346). Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. A Resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the amount of $78,221.20 to pay a portion of the cost of certain sewer improvements in the City of Salina, to be designated as ST -24, pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, hxline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) JAayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1757• The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 164 to 166 Resolution ,I Book 6. OCTOBER 21 1956 ivieeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, October 2, 1956. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, hxline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and Acting City Attorney Bengtson responded. City Attorney Barta absent. Hearing was held on Application filed by Verner C. Smith for the construction of a duplex on North 70 feet of Lot 39 and North 70 feet of portion of Lot 37, plus 72 feet vacated Quincy Street, iirwin Avenue, in Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University; and for the construction of a duplex on the South 50 feet of Lot 39 and South 50 feet portion of Lot 37, plus 721 feet vacated Quincy Street, on Kirwin Avenue, in Addition to Grounds.of Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina., Kansas. Application referred back to Verner Smith to see if he can comply with ordinance. No Hearing held on Application presented from First Presbyterian Church, relating to the construction of a church building on West 73 feet of Lot 174 on i Eighth Jtreet and ��est 65 feet of Lot 178 on Eighth Street, Original Townsite, Dslins, Kansas. Problem solved before Hearing. Building can be constructed according to Ordinance. Hearing was held on application from Arthur E.
