09-11-1956 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING i COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. I SEPTEMBER 11, 1956 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners September 11, 1956. Meeting wa called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta Responded. The minutes of the Reguiar Meeting of September 4th, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of September 4th, 1956 were ead and approved as read. Commissioner Lake moved that contracts for the construction of Fire Station dumber 2 in the City of Salina, Kansas, be awarded to the following firms : General Construction Work: M. L. Jarvis, d/b/a Jarvis Construction Company $66,350.00 Electrical Work A. E. Engberg, d/b/a Engberg Electric Company $ 6,798.00 • Plumbing and Heating Work B. B. Gage, d/b/a Gage Plumbing and Heating Co. Inc. $14,333.00 Commissioner Lake moved that Bond Bids be returned to unsuccessful bidders. Carried. Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Number 1763 filed by B. R. -0ecker, Liay 4, 1956, for the rezonin of Lots 25, 27 and 29 on Santa Fe Avenue in the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University to Zone "D" be denied. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. i City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1806 For curbing, guttering and paving Ellsworth tivenue from existing curbing and guttering at the east line of Lots 29 and 30 on Ellsworth Avenue, Addi- tion to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, to west line of Quincy Street. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Ellsworth Avenue with concrete, (33) feet back of curb to back of curb, from the existing curbing and guttering at the east line of Lots 29 and 30 on Ellsworth Avenue, Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, to the west line of Quincy Street." kesolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. 1805 For sidewalk on North side of Bachtold from Cherokee to Oak. 43% 1807 Protesting s4J_dewalk on the north side of Bachtold from Cherokee • to Oak. 3377, insufficient. Commission Ramsey moved that petition be denied. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections'': and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) ,Mayor approved the ordi- na:lce and it is Numbered 6090. Appraisers for Airport Land. Agenda for September 25, 1956. Appraisers reports filed for Jeb 344 and 344A, Lateral Sanitary Sewers _r 346, 347 and 348. Commissioner Wenger moved to.: et date of Hearing for September 25th, 1956 at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Letter presented from Kansas Power and Light Company relating to street lights on East Iron Avenue and on South Santa Fe Avenue and Voest Claflin Avenue. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Fesolution relating to street lighting on East Iron Avenue, and that Resolution dumber 1734 be can- celled." • On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1748. �J The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 155 Resolution Book 6. i A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to Street Lighting on South Santa Fe Avenue and West Clafl.in Avenue, and that Resolu- tion Number 1735 be cancelled. On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1749. Wilson and Company,, Engineers, submitted Final Estimate in the amount of $913.00 to Oolumbian Steel ank Company, for one 10,000 gallon steel tank. Approved by Commissioner Exline.
