08-21-1956 Minutes0 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGUTA R MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SAUNA, KANSAS. AUGUST 21, 1956 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 21, 1956. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 14th, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of August 14th, 1956 were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Sherman Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the north line of Franklin Street to the south line of Wilson Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) ,Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1742. I A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and gradin of Eleventh Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter,A-om the sout h line of Jewell Avenue i to the north line of Kirwin Avenue." I On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Oyes: Hawkes, I Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and 1 it is Numbered 1743. i An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the j ordinance and it is Numbered A-816. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A resolution relating to A reement with Union Pacific Railroad Company for the construction of a spur track 350 feet long on Fourth Street, for Salina Waterworks Company." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and tienger (5) Nays: y (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1745. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 151 Resolution Book 6. City Manager reported on the following petitions: i l 1797 For the paving of Charlotte Street from Gebhart to Fourth. I A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled. "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving and grading of Charlotte Street with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the east line of Gebhart Street to the west lire of Fourth Street." I Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. j { 1793 Petition protesting the paving of 900 Block on Sherman, between Wilson and Republic. Protest insufficient. The followingletters were presented from the City Planning Commission: Recommending that Petition Number 1801 filed by Champlin Refining Company for the rezoning of a part of Tract 1, Plat 51, in the City of Salina, Kansas from Zone "A" to Zone "D" be approved. (This property is on the Southwest corner of U. S. Highway 81 By -Pass and Walnut, 1315 West Walnut Street). i Commissioner Lake moved to accept and City Clerk publish notice. Carried. Recommending that Petition Number 1802 filed by the Champlin Refining Company for the rezoning of a Part of the South 1/2 of Lot 1, Surveyor's Plat 12, in the City • i of alina, Kansas from Zone "A" to Zone "D" be approved. This property is known as 1043 East Iron Avenue, Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept and City Clerk publish Notice. Carried. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Planning Commission: Rezoning Lot 13, and West 35 feet of Lot 12, Par Nel Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "D". I jRezoning a part of Lot 1, Surveyor's Plat 11, of the Northwest 1/4 of the i Northeast 1/4 of Section 25, Township 144 South Range 3 West of the Sixth P. M. to "D" Local Business. i i The following petition was referred to the City Manager: For a sidewalk on the north side of Bachtold Street between Cherokee and Oak Streets. Concrete Construction Bond presented from Harold F. Blacker. Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. Electrician's Bond presented from F. E. Bourbina. Approved by Commissioner Exline. COMMISSIONERS R00143 SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 21, 1956 Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, August 21, 1956. Tdeeting was called to order by Mayo Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Notice of Hearing for non-compliance with Side Yard Requirements of Ordi- nance Number 5549 for Lot 17, Block 1, in Cloud Addition, for Doyle Yockers, was taken up by the Board of Zoning Appeals. No protests. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A "`esolution relating to the authorization of non-compliance with the Side Yard Requirements of Ordinance Number 55.9 for Lot Seventeen (17) Block One (1) in Cloud Addition to the City of Salina, 6aline County, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, :Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and :it is Numbered 1714.
