Commissioner Hawkes absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 3, 1956 wereread and approved as read. I Pursuart to Notice published in .the official City Paper bids were received for Southern View Addition Storm Sewer (Job 346) as follows: McCollum Construction Company $99085.00 L. W. Rexroad and Son 101,055.00 0. D. Wilmoth 104,122.25 Purtzer and Dutton 128,345-00 Peter Kiewet &Sons, Company 139,150.00 Rhoades Construction Comp arV 1223252.50 . City Engineer's Estimate 139,275.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to McCollum Construction Company, as per bid submitted in the amount of $99,385.00, and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum, doing business as McCollum Construction Company, for the construction of a storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas:, heretofore designated as Southern View Addition Storm Sewer, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance calling a Spcial Election to be held in the City of Salina, Kansas, for the purpose of submitting .to the qualified electors of said City the propostimn tof'issue the General Obligation Bonds of the City in the amount of $375,000.00 for the purpose of acquiring additional land to enlarge the present Municipal Airport, developing and equipping said Airportfor aviation purposes,and all things incidental thereto, the proceeds of said bonds to be used in conjunction with a grant from the United States in the approximate amount of $375,000.00." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its finalct-doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6073. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance • ratifying and confirming a contract with 0. D. Wilmoth, Contractor, for the con- struction of a certain lateral sanitary sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas, hereto- fore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District 346, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes.: Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6074. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance regulating electri cal wiring, the installation of electrical equipment and other electrical work in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for examination and lieensing of Electricians, tree issuance of permits and penalties for the violation thereof; repealin Article 3, Sections 6-301 through 6-332, Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6075. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A hesolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Twelfth Street , thirty-three • (33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch rolled rock base, from the south line of Woodland Avenue to the north line • of Pacific Avenue." 1 • I- n On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Acting Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1730. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 136 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the paving and grading of Antrim Avenue, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch rolled rock base, from the east line of Ninth Street to the west line of Eighth Street." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Acting Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1731. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 137 Resolution B,ok 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the paving and gradin of Sherman Street twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter totoe of gutter, with concrete, from the north line of Republic Avenue to the north line of Wilson Street." On motion of Commissioner Lake the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption tie roll was called and the follows ng vote was had; Ayes: Exl.ine, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Carried. • Commissioner Wenger moved to approve Plat of Gebhart-Manor Addition. Carried. Commissioner Wenger moved to place School Cropping Watchmen under direction of Police Department. Carried. Saline Co my Civil Defense Budget for 1956-1957, in the amount of $9281.00 was filed. Board of Commissioners to give Budget consideration.
