06-26-1956 Minutes• 1 1 • 1 • U COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JUNE 26, 1956 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 26, 1956. Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Exline, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 19th, 1956 and Special Meeting of June 19th, 1956 were r ead and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing water and sewer service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had - Ayes: Hawkes, Exli ne, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) AeLj-hg j ayror a�pt'"da t ordinance and it is Numbered 6071. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Section 1, Ordinance 5562, and providing for the re- peal of the original Section 1, Ordinance Number 5562." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6072. City Limits - Lamer Gardens Addition. Discussion for and against. Action deferred to later date. Letter presentedfrom City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Number 1777 filed by Mowe* Clinic Medical Group and Ralph E. brown, for Garden Homes Inc., asking for the rezoning from Zone "A" to Zone "C", of Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 Mock 8 of the Replat of Lots 1 - 15 Garden Home Addition to the City of Salina, Kan- sas be approved. Referred back to City Planning Commission. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1775 Paving of Haven from Viemont to Whittinghill. 1779 Curb, gutter and paving Morrison from College to Montrose. 1782 Curb and gutter west side of Roach from Carl to Leslie. 1784 Curb and gutter north side of Crawford from Viemont, west to City limits; A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving and grading of Haven Avenue, with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the east line of Viemont Avenue to the west line of Whittinghill Avenue." Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A hesolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Morrison Avenue, thirty-three (33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the east line of Montrose to the west line of College Avenue." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A hesolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of Crawford Avenue on the north side, from the center line of Viemont Avenue gest to the City limits.11 Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of the West side of Roach ftom the center line of Carl Avenue to the center line of Leslie Avenue." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter presented from Mrs. Emma Gebhart Simmons asking for the inclusion of certain property south of Kraft Manor Addition within the City limits. Referred to City Planning Commission. Beer Application presented from Lawrence J. Reinbold asking for the transfer of Beer License Number 2525 from 316 East Pacific to 124 East Iron Avenue. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. i i Contract presented rom Santa Fe Railroad Company, authorizing construction - of an eight -inch sewer pipe line along and across their property in the vicinity of Third Street, in the City of Salina, Kansas. i Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Final Estimate in the amount of 23,182.13 to Purtzer and Dutton for Underground Reservoir. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Petition presented for the paving of Antrim Avenue from Eighth Street to Ninth -- S�reet. Referred to City Manager. i Letter presented from Mrs. W. W. Baxter regarding Sidewalk Petition for sidewalks on certain streets in south-east Salina. Referred to City Manager. On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
