06-19-1956 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JUNE 19, 1956 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 19th, 1956. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 12, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of June 12, 1956 were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution ! relating to the paving and grading of Connecticut Avenue with concrete, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the north line of Gypsum Avenue to the north line of Stapler Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1722. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 128 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution to the curbing, guttering and paving of Woodland Avenue thirty-three (33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the west line of Broadway Boulevard to the west line of Twelfth Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1723. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 129 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Twelfth Street thirty-three (33) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the north line of Broadway Boulevard to the south line of Woodland Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exliae, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1724. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 130 Resolution Book 6. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with C. N. McCollum, doing busineess as McCollum Construction Company, for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 347 and 318, and providing for the issuance of temporary note to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6068. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." • 1 1 • • On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: ' Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) days: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and tt is Numbered A-808. Contract for sewer line across Santa Fe Railroad property was presented. Referred to City Attorney. Electrician's Bond presented from Ray Harold. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. • • 1 • L� • 1 • An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance re- lating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and gradin of Franklin Avenue from the center line of Shawnee Avenue to the center line of Hancock Street; Lewis Street from tie center line of McAdams Road to the center line of MellingerDrive; Mellinger Drive from the east line of Roach Street to the west lire of Ohio Street; Roach Street from the center line of McAdams Road to the cehter line of Mellinger Drive; West side of Broadway Boulevard, beginning on the north directly east of the southeast corner of Banker's Addition ti,ence south 318.2 feet more or less to a point directly east of the northeast corner of Block 8, Sunset Manor Addition; and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinancne and it is Numbered 6069. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager: Paving Sherman Street between Republic Avenue and Wilson Street. Curb and gutter North side of Crawford Avenue from Viemont, west to City limits. Curb and gutter West side of Roach from Carl to Leslie. Five-foot concretesidewalk on west side of Roach from Carl to Leslie. Commissioner Wenger moved that City Clerk advertise for bids to be received up to and including Tuesday, July 3rd, 1956 at four o'clock P. M. for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewer number 346. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance levy- ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing water and sewer sersice pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of ,alina, Kan- sas'! Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for fitrst-reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendmezi of Section 1, Ordinance 5562, and providing for the repeal of the original Section 1, Ordinance Number 5562." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
