COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.

Regular Ybeting of the Board of Commissioners May 29, 1956. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Lake absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 22, 1956 and Meeting of Board of
Zoning Appeals of May 22, 1956, were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map
therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within
the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Ramsey -and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6061.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina,
Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 348, and providing for
the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer insaid Lateral Sanitary Sewer District
Number 348 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for toe
levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment
for the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost there-
of."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6062.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Ohio Street , Forty (40)
feet wide face of curb to face of curb, with concrete, from the south line of Gypsum
Avenue to the south line of Stack Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1712.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution re-
lating to the paving and gradin of Haven Avenue , twenty-eight (28) feet wide from
toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the west line of Steahlin Avenue
to the east line of Whi ttinghill Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 1713.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the paving and grading of Charles S reet , twenty-eight (28) feet wide from
toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with two 2inch hot mix asphalt, over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the west line of Phillips Street to the east line of Twelfth
Street."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read, and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 1711.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the paving and grading of Re ublic Avenue , twent.-eight (28) feet wide
toe of gutter to t oe of gutter with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix, over a six (6) inch
crushed rock base, from the west line of Pearl Avenue to the west line of Lewis Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read, and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes,
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved
the resolution and it is Numbered 1715.

City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Number 347.
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading of Oakdale Drive , thirty-two 02) feet wide from toe
of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the east line of Front Street to the
west line of Oakdale Avenue." Resolution referred to the Board of Iommis-
e sioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the paving and grading of Ninth Street on each side of the existing
concrete slab, Sixteen (16) feet wide to the toe of existing gutter, with concrete,
j from the south line of Cloud Street to the south line of Charlotte Avenue."
Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager.
Paving Connecticut Avenue from Gypsum to Stapler.
Curbing, guttering and paving Woodland Avenue from Eleventh to Twelfth.
Curbing, guttering and paving Twelfth Street from 'Broadway to Woodland.
Applicationfor Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from:
Curtis McDaniel, 347 North Seventh Street.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger.
Calvin H. Bowden, Architect, filed Final estimate in the amount of $2960.80
to Elmer Ogborn for construction of Salina Public Museum.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
Letter presented from City Planning and Zoning Commission, regarding City
Limits.
Referred to City Attorney.
Appraisers Report on Condemnation Proceedings filed for easement on Storm
Sewer in Southern View Addition.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
A group of members of Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Board of Commis-
sioners regarding Traffic Survey, asking that same be included in 1957 Budget.
Commissioners to give consideration.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the construction of a certain storm sewer and drainage in the City of
Salina, Kansas, to be designated as South View Addition Storm Sewer, and providing
for the letting of contract for such construction and for the paymen of the cost _
thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Ramsey made motion that City Manager proceed with Plans and
bpecifications for new sewer line out to Sewage Disposal Plant. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering
and gradin Crawford Avenue from the center line of Whittinghill Avenue to the center
line of Viemont 'venue; Crawford Avenue on the North side from the center line of
Steahlin Avenue to the center line of Whittinghill venue; Claflin Avenue on the north
side from the center line of Lewis to the center line of Ohio Street. Duvall Avenue
from the center line of Crawford Avenue to the center line of Haven Avenue; Lewis Avenue
from the center line of Jewell Avenue to the center line of Kirwin Avenue; Mohawk --'
Avenue from the center line of Franklin Avenue to the north line of Lot 23, Block 6,
Sunset Manor Addition, extended west; Shawnee Avenue from the center line of Franklin
Avenue to the north line of Lot 71 Block 2, Sunset Manor Addition; extended west;
Seminole Avenue from the center line of Franklin Avenue to the north line of Lot 13,
Block 4,, Sunset Manor Addition, extended West; and relating to and providing for the
collection and payment of such assessments." Ordinance was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
