Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 15th, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of May 15th, 1956 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 317, and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 347, so created and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said district for the payment for the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor ap- proved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6060. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the East side of Roach Street from the center line of Claflin Avenue tothe center line of Russell venue." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote Was had; Ayes= Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso- ltion and it is Numbered 1689. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A hesolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of East Prescott Road from the east line of Front Street to the north line of Guernsey Drive." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes.- Hawkes, yes:Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso- lution and it is Numbered 1690. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger. (5) Nays: (U) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-801. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lot 6, BLock 13, Riverside Park Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "B". An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendmen of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and there- by adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Com- missioners. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of West 378 feet of South270 feet of Lot 25, Plat "G" from Zone "A" to Zone "C". Passage of Ordinance deferred until requirements fulfilled as per letter of City Planning (bimmission. City Manager reported on the following petitions: i 1767 Paving Haven Avenue from Steahlin to Whittinghill. 1770 Paving Republic Avenue from Pearl to Lewis. Job 330). Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. i A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $65,612.27, to pay a portion of the cost of improving certain streets in the City of Salina, to be designated as Series PT -21, pending ti.e issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner -Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1710. Lewis, asking for permission to operate a Taxi Company in the City of Salina, Kansas, to be known as "City Cab Company", be denied. Carried. A petition was presented asking for the paving of Ninth Street on each side of the existing concrete slab from Cloud to Charlotte. Referred to City Manager. Neff, asking for non- compliance with the Side Yard Requirements and Off -Street Parking Requirements of f Section 19, Ordinance No. 5549 for the North 30 feet of Lot 37, Santa Fe Avenue, in the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University Addition. No protests. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A "esolution relating to the authorization of non-compliance with the Side Yard and Off -Street Parking Require!m ment of section 19 of Ordinance Number 5549 for North 30 feet of Lot Thirty-seven (37) on Santa Fe Avenue in Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
