Meeting was called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissionrs Hawkes, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Lake absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 24, 1956; and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $39,820.85 to pay a portion of the cost of improving a certain street in the City of Salina, Kansas, to be designated as Series PT -22 pending the issuance of bonds to pap the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, kamsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor ap- proved the resolution and it is Numbered 1685. The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 85, 86 and 87, Resolution Book Number 6. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance con- demning an easement in certain land within Saline County, Kansas, for the use of the City of Salina, Kansas, in constructing and extending a certain storm sewerfrom the intersection of the center line of Wayne Avenue and Ohio Street, north to the bank of the Smoky Hill River, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll Was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, 1,xline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6056. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 327 and 32.8, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline., Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lake absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6057. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6058. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Lie absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-801. s e The following Estimates were filed by Wilson & Company, Engineers: Estimate Number 6 in the amount of $27,617.77 to Purtzer and Dutton for Underground Reservoir. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Estimate Number 4 in the amount of $16,792.90 to Jarvis Cors traction Company for Water Treatment Plant. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. The following estimates were filed by H. F. Harper, City Engineer: Estimate Number 2. in the amount of $10,554.75 to Rexroad & Son Construction Company for Parking Lot Number 3. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Estimate Number 4 in the amour of $2,454.49 to, H. J. Taylor Contruction Company for Street Improvements (Engineer Job 335)• Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Trust Deed in the amount of $40.00 was presented from Si. John's Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas, for perpetual care of Space 11 Lot 23, #Lock 24 in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery for George H. Wyrick and Maggie N. Wyrick. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Electrician's Bond presented from Jarold V. Pickering. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager: For paving Columbia Avenue from Elm to Riverside Drive (2" hot mix) For paving Kirwin Avenue from Norton to Sunrise. Application for Cereal Malt Oeverage License presented from Paul Gossman, d/b/a "Bachelor's Inn" 328 South Broadway. Approved by Commissioner Exlire, subject to sanitation. Carried. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving and grading of Republic Avenue , twenty-eight (28) feet wide,A-om toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the east line of Sheridan Street to the west line of Sherman Street." Referred tothe Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Manager be authorized to sign contract for two houses and lots, Indian Rock Park. Carried. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of the following property: A plot of ground in Salina, Kansas, starting 600 feet east of the east line of South Broadway Boulevard on the north line of Armory Road; thence East 275 feet to west line of Missouri Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence north 400 feet; thence west 275 feet; thence south 400 feet to — place of beginning, to Zone "F". Lots 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 in Surveyor's Plat 12, Salina, Kansas from Zone "A" to Zone "B". Granted subject to ordinance. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Co sioners adjourned. Building Permit Application presented from Paul B. Adrian for building to be erected on the west 70 feet of Lot 103, 105 and 107, on Second 6treet, in Original Town of Salina, Kansas. Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Clerk be instructed to publish Notice of Hearing tobe held, Tuesday, May 8th, 1956 at 4:00 P. M. Carried.
