Regular Meeting of the Board of (bmmissioners April 24, 1956. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Hawkes, the roll was called and Commissioners Hawkes, Exline,
Lake, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 17, 1956; Special Meeting of
April 17, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of April 17, 1956 were r ead and
approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain curbing, guttering and gracing improvements on certain streets
in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to
pay the cost thereof pending the issuance a nd sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and 'henger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered 6053•
An ordinance was introdu;ed for second reading entitled. "An ordinance rati-

construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on cer-
tain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas, and providing for the issuance of tempo-
rary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered 6054.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown & Brown, Inc., for the construction
of certain paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the QLty of Salina,
Kansas, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof
pending the issuance and sale of bonds." .
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Hawkes, Exline, Lake, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered 6055.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance con-
demning an easement in certain land within Saline County, Kansas, for the use of the
City of Salina, Kansas, in constructing and extending a certain storm sewer from the
intersection of the center line of Wayne Avenue and Ohio Street north to the bank of
the Smoky Hill River, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relat-
ing to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces
of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of construction of lateral
sanitary sewers in Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 327 and 328, and relat-
ing to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Paving McAdams Road from Lewis to Ohio.
Paving Third Street from Prescott Avenue to Crawford Avenue.
Petition presented for the right to make driveway approaches on the East 100
feet of the South 198.2 feet of a triangular plot bounded by Banker's Addition to the
North; U. S. Highway R1 on the East and $Lock 8, Sunset Manor Addition on the south,
in Salina, Kansas, from 10 --feet radius to 6 feet radius.
Petition referred to City Attorney.
Lease was entered into between the City of Salina and Ray C. Moore, relating
to Salina Municipal Airport.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger and mayor authorized to sign. Carried.
Amended restrictions of Blocks 3 and 5,rnd cart of Block 1, of Southern View
Addition in the City of Salina, Kansas, received from R. V. Knowles an Lula C. Knowles,
husband and wife.
Approved by Commissioner -Wenger.' 'Carried.
