Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, E:xl.ine, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of uhe Regular Meeting of March 20, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of March 20, 1956 were read and approved. An ordinance was introdu:;ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with Young Construction Company for the con- struction of certain lateral sanitary sewers and main sanitary sewer and Pumping Station in the City of Salina, Kansas, hereinafter designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Listricts 329, 330, 3313 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 340, 341. and 342 and Main Sanitary Sewer District "AC'I and Pumping Station, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending tissuance— and s ale of bonds. " On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6044. <' An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, hereto- fore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 343, 344 and 345, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6045. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Avenue on the west side from the center line of Russell Avenue to the center line of Cloud Street; Lewis Avenue on the east side from a point 150 feet south of the south line of Russell Avenue to the center line of Cloud Street; Roach Street from the center line of Mel- linger Drive to the center line of Manor Road; East side of Roach Street_ from the center line of 1�laflin Avenue to he center line of Cloud Street; East side of South_ Broadway Boulevard _from the north line of Amory Road, north 400 feet; East side of Ohio Street from the center line of Kirwin AVenue t o the center line of Jewell Avenue; and providing for the payment of the cost thUreof , and how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." Application for permit to construct a Recessed Parking Area, or Lot 31, Santa Fe Avenue,Kaxisas Wesleyan University Addition was presented from B. R. Becker. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. City Engineer submitted Final Estimate in the amount of $17,881.46 to Brown and Brown Construction Company for the paving of certain streets provided for in Engineer Job 331. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Petition presented to bring South Field Addition into the City limits. Referred to City Planning Commission. Petition presented forp9ming Cloud Street. from Ninth to Highland. Referred to City Manager. Concrete Construction Bonds presented from: Sigle-Steely Inc. Herington, Kansas. Dewey Construction Co. Salina, Kansas Application presented for two driveways on East Claflin. (Salina Clinic) Approved by Uommissioner Exline. Carried. Plat presented for South Field Addition. Carried. • 1 • • 1 A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the excavating, gracing and paving of Court Place twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the south line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of Jewell Avenue." Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to he graving and grading of Ellsworth Avenue twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, w ith concrete, from the east line of Pershing Street to the east line of Funston Street." Resolution referred to the Board of Com- missioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the pving and gradin of Second Street twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter with two 2 inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock base, from the south line of Wilson Street to the South line of Lot 7, Block 6, Hutchinson's Addition." Resolution referred to the Board of commission- ers. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance defin- ing a certain lateral sanitary sewer district in the City of Salina, Kansas, desig- nated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 346 and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 346, so created, and providing for he payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property ins aid district for the payment ofthe cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of Cb mmissioners adjourned. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the rollwas cal led and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Notice of Hearing was held on application for permission to operate a Trailer Court east of Broadway and north of Crawford Avenue near the Salina Implement Company. A representative from the Salina Implement Company appeared to protest. Commissioner Ramsey moved that petition bereferred back to City Planning Commission for further consideration. Carried.
