Meeting , was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 6, 1956 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Apps als of March 6, 1956 were r ead and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled; "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-794. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for • the cors truction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 329 to 342 inclusive, and Main Sanitary Sewer "AC" (Job 339) as follows: 0. D. Yt lmoth, Salina,' Kansas. $49.,954.20 Young Construction Company, Kansas City, Missouri x,956.80 McCollum Construction Compaay, Salina, Kansas 049,877.50 John G. Busboom, Salina, Kansas $68,226.00 H.J.Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $53,435.50 City Engineer's Estimate $56,323.50 Commissioner Wenger moved that bids be referred to the City Engineer for checking and report. Carried. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Block 7 and Lots 1 and 12 of Block 8, of the Replat of Lots 1 to 15 Garden Home Addition in the City of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "A" to Zone "C". An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribingthe proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1711 Curbing and guttering the east side of Lewis Avenue from Minneapolis to Ellsworth. • 1712 Paving Roach Street from Mellinger Drive to Manor Avenue. 1713 Paving Whittinghill from Crawford to Beverly Drive. 1716 Curbing west side of Lewis Street from Claflin to Russell. 1717 raving Beatrice Avenue from McAdams Road to Martin Avenue. 1718 Pairing Steahlin from Haven to Beverly Drive. 1719 Paving Fourth Street from Cloud to Leslie. 1720 Paving Delaware Avenue from Stack to Greeley. 1721 Paving Beloit Avenue from Quincy Street to a point 306 feet with 2 -inch hot asphalt top. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the East side of Lewis Avenue from the center line of Minneapolis Avenue to the center li_ie of Ellsworth venue." Referred to Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and -grading of the West side of Lewis Street from the center line of Claflin Avenue to the center line of Russell Avenue." Bowden, Architect, filed Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $10,943.00 to Elmer Ogborn for Salina Public Museum. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. Paving Second Street rom Wilson Street south to he south line of Lot 7, Block 6, Hutchinson's Addition. Sanitary Sewer in Chester Avenue from existing manhole located in Chester and Missouri Pacific Railroad Right-of-way, North 774 feet more or less,to serve Lots 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 in East Garde:.s Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas. For a street on Wilson Street and Second Street. i Michaelsen Contruction Company filed amended restrictions for Blocks 2, 4, 6, 71 81 9, 10 and Part of Block 1, Southern View Addition. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Application for driveways at 1114 North Ninth Street, presented from Wm. Reimold. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Contract presented from Wilson and Company, Engineers, relating to equipment for Water Softenin Plant; including flood lighting of the desilting basin and construction • of a railroad spur for unloading chemicals. i Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. I i Commissioner Wenger approved sending Ralph hx1ine and hurray Wilson to i Washington, D. C. for Flood Control Budget. Carried. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution pertaining to proposed Flood Protection Works for the City of Salina, with participation by the United States of America." i On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1665. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger a4d; Cityy.: ,attorney Barta responded. The following Zoning Appeals were presented: 1664 Frank Fessler: For non-compliance with the use of Side Door for Building to be r eected on Lot 130, Seventh Street, Original Town of Salina. No protests. 1663 Dr. Ed 5i.mmons: For non-compliance with Roof Area of Open Porch for Lot 10 and part of Lot 11, HLock 3, Sunrise Addition, Salina, Kansas. No protests. 1662•- • Joseph O'Shea: For non-compliance with the Insufficient Lot Area for the West 72 feet of Lot 10, Block 4, Morrison's Addition, Salina, Kansas. No Frotqsts. 1661 Village Missionary Church: For non-complians with the Rear Yard Requirements for church to be erected at 1209 Osage. No protests. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating to the authorization of non-compliance with the Rear Yard Requirements of Section 6 Ordinance Numbered 5549 for Lots 15, 16 17 of Block Three (3),Likdn'b Foster Ad- dition tothe City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1661.
