02-14-1956 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS FEBRUARY 14, 1956 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners Februar 14, 1956. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of t he Regular Meeting of February 7, 1956 were r ead and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying ad confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of a certain storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Cloud Addition storm sewer and providing for the issuing of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof :pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Nufibered 6038. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of Main Sanitary Sewer "AC" and extension thereof into the existing sewer lo- cated at the intersection of Quincy Street and Cloud Street, in order to conduct the sewage of Main Sanitary Sewer "AC" to a point of outlet and providing for the payment of the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6039. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-790. Commissioner Exli.ne moved to approve Air Conditioning Contract for Museum Building. Library to pay $1,000.00 of the amount. Carried. Electrical Bond presented from Paul D. Merrill d/b/a Merrill Electric Com- panY- Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Petitions filed stating the Police Department is a most satisfactory and efficient department. Commissioner Wenger moved to accept petitions and give vote of thanks to Police Department. Carried. Deed was presented to the City from M. L. Michaelsen for Lot 19, Block 7, Likens -Foster Addition. Commissioner Wenger moved to accept. Carried. Petition presented for the construction of sanitary servers for the balance of Blocks 2, 4 and 6, and Area 16, in Sunset Manor Addition to Salina, Kansas. Petition referred to City Manager. Petition presented for the operation of a trailer park or camp in part of the S. W. 1/4, Section 14, Township 14, South, Range 3 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian in Saline County, Kansas. Petition referred to the City Planning Commission. Report of Commissioners filed for the condemra tion of Fire Station property and Water Department settling basin property. Appraisers filed report for Job 330, (Curbing, guttering and/or paving). Commissioner Hawkes moved that City C]e rk be instructed to advertise for Hearing to be held February 28, 1956 at 4:00 P. M. Carried. Commissioner Wenger moved that Water Contract for F. A. Ostenberg be approved. Commissioner Hawkes was appointed City's representative of Salina Community Chest. f An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 3l�1 and 3142, and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in each of said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 3141 and 342 -'so created, and providing for the payments of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property insaid districts for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. i An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the vacation of a portion of a certain street in the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas."
