Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 31, 1956 were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the construction of Cloud Addition Storm Sewer ( Job 341) as follows: j ! H. J. Taylor Cors truction Company 013,657.00 j o. J. Taylor Con- struction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $13,657.00 and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: 'An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the con- struction of a certain storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas, heretofore designated as Cloud Addition storm sewer and providing for the issuing of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re- lating to the resurfacing of Iron Avenue with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the east line of College Avenue to the west line of Ninth Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted -as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1619. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 49 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the resurfacing of Ninth Street with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the north line of Republic to the north line of Crawford Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and finger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1650. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 50 Resolution Book 6. A resolution was introdu.cnd for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the resurfacing of Ninth Street with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete from the south line of Ash Street to the south line of South Street." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline,' Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1651. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat- ing and defining certain main and lateral sanitary sewer districts in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Main Sanitary Sewer District "AC" and Lateral Sanitary Sewer Listricts Numbered 332, 333, 334) 335, 336, 337, 338, 339 and 340 and providing for the construction of a mains anitary sewer "AC" and lateral sanitary sewers in each of said Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339 and 340 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the property in said districts for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay ti:e cost thereof." i On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and 'tenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6035. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendmert of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Flap therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Fawkes the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance i and it is Numbered 6036. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the changing of names of streets within the City of Salina, Saline Coanty, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll & as called and the following vote was had; _ Ayes: Lake, Exline, Fawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6037. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an ° appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance w as read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-788. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the rollwas called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, incline, Hawwkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-789. Commissioner Wenger moved to approve wiring for Airconditioni.ng Museum Build- ing. Carried. i Letter received from City Planning Commission recommending tr:at Petition Number 1698 filed by Champlin Refinery Company for the rezoning of the East 112o6f Lots 40, and 42, Block 3, VanZrine ' s Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, be denied, wasagain taken up by the Board of t'ommissioners. Commissioner Ramsey moved to accept recommendation of City Planning Commis- sion and denied petition. Carried. Application presented from Holsum Bakery for permission to construct a driveway at 119 East Mulberry Street, 19 x 55 feet between kilberry and Walnut Streets. j Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition No. 1704 filed by Ralph E. Brown, January 21, 1956, for the rezoning of Lot 1, Block 8, of the Replat of Lots 1 to 15 Garden Home Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "A" Residential to District "D" be approved. Commissioner Exline moved to accept recommeniation and City Clerk instructed to give thirty days notice. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed the following Estimates: Number 3 in the amount of 427m469.57 to Purtzer and Dutton for Underground Reservoir. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. Number 1 in the amount of $2,120.00 to Jarvis Construction Company for Water Treatment Plant. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. City Engineer filed Estimate Number 3 in the amount of :5,610.00 to Wilson Constructors for Swimming Pool. (Job 333) Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Petition presented for the curbing and guttering the balance of Mohawk, Seminole and Shawnee Avenues in Sunebt Manor Addition, Salina, Kam as. Job 334) Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Clerk advertise for Hearing to be held Tuesday, February 21st, 1956 at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Plat presented for Replat of Block 2 and Part of Block 6, Sunset Manor Addition. Commissioner Wenger moved to approve and authorize Mayor to sign. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the construction of a pumping station for the purpose of pumping the sewage of Main Sanitary Sewer "AC" and extension thereof into the existing sewer located at the intersection of Quincy Street and Cloud street, in order to conduct the sewage of Plain Sanitary Sewer "AC" to a point of outlet and providing for the payment of the cost there of." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner xa.msey the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
