Regula Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 24, 1956. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake,
Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded.
The minutes of the Regular Feting of January 17, 1956 and Meeting of
Board of Zoning Appeals of January 17, 1956 were r ead and approved as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the East side of South B_roadway�
Boulevard from the north line of Armory Road, north 400 feet."
On motion of Commissioner Hawkesthe resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes. Lake,
Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1646. •
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 46 Resolution Book 6.
City Manager reported on Petition Number 1695 for the curbing and gutter-
ing of Ohio Street from Jewell Avenue to Kirwin Avenue.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of the West side of Ohio Street from the
center line of Kirwin Avenue to the center line of Jewell Avenue." Resolution
referred to the Board of Commissioners.
Plat presented for St. Mary's Addition.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger.
The following letters presented from City Planning Commission:
Recommending that Petition No. 1699 filed by Mid -States Armature Works, for
vacating 72 feet on both sides of the 30 -foot north and south alley east of Santa Fe
Avenue between Lincoln and Decatur, be approved, except, insofar as the width of the
vacated portion is concerned. In that regard we recommend that only five feet on
each side of the alley be vacated.
Commissioner V�enger moved to accept report. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the vacation of a certain portion of a certain public alley within the
City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas:." Ordinance referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
Recommending that Petition No. 1698 filed by the Champlin Refinery Company, •
for the rezoning of East 1122 feet of Lots 40 and 42, Block 3, Van Trine's Addition
to the City of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "C" to Zone "D" be denied. Tabled for
one week.
No persons appeared ;at the January 17th, 1956 Meeting to protest against the
rezoning of Lots 1 through 122 Block 32 VanTrine's Addition to the City of Salina,
Kansas, from Zone "B" to Zone "C".
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance provid-
ing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein
and thereby adopted and providin for the rezoning of certain property within the City
and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of
Commissioners.
Commissioner Hawkes moved to accept and approve Wilson and Company Engineer's
report relating to ten-year Plan for he City of Galina, Kansas. Carried.
City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for the construction of Cloud
Addition Storm Sewer.
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey and City Clerk instructed to advertise for
bids tobe received Tuesday, February 7, 1956 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.
C. L. Clark, former City Attorney, was present, and Mayor Lake presented him
with plaque in Honor of his long and faithful service to the City of Salina, Kansas.
Nine Pool Hall Applications were presented. •
Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried.

Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Application for Permit to construct a Recessed Parking Area on Fifth Street
between Walnut Street and Mulberry Street was presented from Holsum Baker's of Salina,
Kansas. Action deferred for one week.
The following petitions were p esented and referred to the City Manager:
Paving Republic Avenue from Beatrice to Lewis.
Extension of the sewer from Des Moines or Ash Street to take care of Block 5,
in Riverside Park Addition, from Ash Street o Riversideive.
Paving Roach Street from McAdams Road to Mellinger; and Mellinger from
• Roach to Lewis.
The following petitionwas presented and referred to the City Planning Com-
mission:
For the rezoning of Lot 11 Block 8, of the Replat of Lots 1 to 15, Garden
Home Addition to the City of Salina., Kansas, from Zone "A" to Zone "C".
Electrician's Bond presented from L. A. Padgett, d/b/a "Padgett Electric
Company". Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
Mayor appointed Mrs. Donald Amend as"a member of the Board of Directors
of Salina Public Library,for a term of four years from February 1, 1956.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Mayor appointed C. E. Dietrick as a member of the Board of Directors of
Salina Public Library, to fill "-acancy created by the resignation of Rudolph Barta,
term of office expiring February 1, 1958•
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first r ea ing entitled: "An ordinance pre-
scribing the salaries of certain officers of the City of Dalin a, and repealing
Sections 1-602 to 1-609, both inclusive, of Ordinance Number 5931." Ordinance
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of aommissi overs adjourned.

to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Qommisd oners Lake, Exline, Hawkes,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. —
Notice of Hearing of George Lantz relating to non-compliance of Front Yard
Requirement, Section 17, Paragraphs 8 and 11, Zoning Ordinance 5519, or Lot 1,
Sherman Street, Dimick's Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, was taken up.
No persons appeared to protest.
A Resolution was introduced and read entitled: "A Resolution relating to
the authorization of non-compliance with front yard requiremen , Section 17, Para-
graph 8 and 11, of Ordinance Number 5549 for Lot One (1) on Sherman Street, Dimick's
Addition to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." _
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and
on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso-
lution and it is Numbered 1617.
