Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Ramsey absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 27, 1955 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced and read entitled: "An ordinance making an ap- propriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the rollcal led d the following vflte was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes and Wenger (�� Nays: (0) Commissioner amsey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-781. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the appropriation and condemning of certain land within the City limits of the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said city for the construction thereon of a river water intake system and a sedimentation basin to be used to supply said City and the inhabitants with water." i On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections] and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6026. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the appropriation and condemning of certain land within the city limits of the City of Salina, Kansaa, for the use of said City for the construction thereon of a fire station and related facilities in order to provide fire protection for the City and its inhabitants." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6027. The following letters were presented from the City Planning Commission: Recommending that Petition Number 1692 filed by Edward H. Bell, for the vacation of part of the ten -foot alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Seventh Street, abutting Lots 32, 34 and the North 45 feet of Lot 36, on Santa Fe Avenue in the Original Town of Salira, Kansas, and the re -location of that alley, with an entrance on Seventh Street, in accordance wi the petition, be approved. Commissioner Exline moved to accept recommendation. Carried. Ordinance introduced for first reading. Recommending that Petition Number 1697 filed by Merle L. Forsyth, for the vacation of part of the North -south alley in Block 2, Pacific Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, and re-routing of that alley as indicated in the drawing attached to the petition, be approved. Commissioner Exline moved to accept recommendation. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance for the vacation of a North and South alley within the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas." Referred to the Board of Commissioners. Recommending that Petition Number 1696 filed by Merle L. Forsyth, for permis- sion to use Lots 9 through 20, in HLock 21 Pacific Addition, Salina, Kansan, for the purpose of constructing thereon a motel, in accordance with provisions of Section 13 of the Zoning Ordinance of Salina, Kansas, be approved. Commissioner Exline moved to accept recommendation and City Clerk instructed to advertise for Hearing to be held January 10, 1956. Carried. Recommending that Petition Number 1694 filed by D. L. Sampson for the re- zoning of Lot 7 in Surveyor's Plat ''D" in the City of Salina, Kansas, from Zone uC" to Zone "D" be disapproved. Commissioner Hawkes moved to accept recommendation. Carried. • Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $20,670.86 to Purtzerand Dutton of Norton, Kansas, for the construction of Underground Reservoir. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. City Engineer filed the following estimates: Number 2 Amount $4890.39 H.J.Taylor Construction Company. Job 335 Street Improvements. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried, Number 1 Amount $3470.75 H.J. Taylor Construction Company Job 337 Sanitary Sewers Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Number 2 Amount $8149.16 H.J. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Electrician's Bond presented from Lester E. Alexander. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Petition presented asking for the rezoning of the East 1122 feet of Lots 40 and 42, Block 3, VanTrine's Addition, Salina, Kansgs from Zone "C" to Zone "D". Referred to the City Planning Commission. 49 Beer Applications were presented. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of Commissioners adjourned. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes and Wenger and City Attorney Barta responded. Commissioner Ramsey absent. Building Application from Carl L. Smith for permission to construct a motel on Lots 4, 5 and 6, Plat 1, Lamer's First Subdivision North and Last of Highway 81, By -Pass, was taken up by the Board of ZogsAppeals. Commissioner Wenger moved that City Clerk advertise for Hearing on ten -foot rear yard requirement, for January 10, 1956 at 4:00 P. M. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned. //f -_ City Clerk
