Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissiozmers December 20th, 1955• Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Hawkes absent.
The minutes of the Regular meeting of December 13, 1955; and Meeting of
Board of Zoning Appeals of December 13, 1955 were read and appro ed as read. j
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitlee: "An ordinance
providing for the inclusion of certain land within the corporate limits of the City
of Salina, Kansas, prescribing tt.e corporate limits of said City and repealing
Section 6 of Ordinance No. 5980.11
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. •
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6022.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for and creating the office of Assistant Clerk of the City Court of Salina,
and fixing the salary for such office."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: R4fflAey (1) Commissioner Hawkes absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6023.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to the conservation of water and controlling the use of the municipal
sewer system; regulating the use thereof by air conditioning equipment; prohibit-
ing waste; requiring a permit from the building inspector before installing,
remodeling or adding to any air conditioning system of specified size using water
from the municipal supply or emptying into municipal storm or sanitary sewers and
providing for the revocation thereof; defining certain terms and providing penalties
for the violation of its provisions."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, and Wenger (3) Nays: Ramsey (1) Commissioner Hawkes absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 6024.
A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution finding it
necessary that the City of Salina, Kansas, acquire certain land for the construction
thereon of a Fire Station and related facilities for the useof said City and to
appropriate private property therefor, and directing the City Engineer to file •
a survey and description of the land so acquired."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake ,Ex nes
Ra sey; and-549hg� (4) ,psi' Yoh: own � Hawkes absent:. Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1641.

A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution finding
that it is necessary for the City of Salina, Kansas,, to acquire certain land for
the construction thereon of a river water intake system and a sedimentation basin
for the use of said City as an increment to its existing water plant facilities,
and to appropriate provate property therefor, and directing the City Engineer to file
a survey and description of the land so required."
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake,
Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1642.

An ordinance was introduced and pssed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-783.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District 10ap
therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezonin of certain property within
the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
City Planning Letter regarding Petition No. 1690 filed by Carl L. Smith,
for the rezoning of Lots 4, 5 and 6 Plat 1, Lamer's First Subdivision to the City
of Salina, for use as a motel, was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners.
• Tabled until Mr. Smith shows definite plans for his location of motel.
Petition Number 1689 filed by Carl L. Smith for the rezoning of part of
Lots 4, 5and 6, Plat 1, Lamer's First Subdivision from Zone "A" to Zone "D", same
having been recommended by the City Planning Commission, was again taken up by the
B oard of Commissioners.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger and City Clerk instructed to give thirty
days notice. Carried.
Application for driveways presented from Busboom and Rauh:
2 40 -ft. on Sputh Broadway
1 50 -ft. on Armory Road.
1 30 -ft on Armory Road
1 20ft. on Armory Road and U. S. 81 By -Pass.
Application approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Petition presented for the curbing and guttering of South Broadway (81 By -Pass)
.from Armory Road to a point 400 feet North thereof. Referred to the City Manager.
Petition presented for the rezoning of Lot 7, Surveyor's Plat "D" from Zone
"C" to Zone "D2. Referred to City Planning Commission.
Preliminary plans filed for the remodeling of old Bath House in Oakdale
Park to be used for Saline County Museum. Commissioner Ramsey moved to
approve and proceed to receive bids. Carried.
