Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners November 15, 1955• Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline,
Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. j
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 8, 1955; and Meeting of Board
of Zoning Appeals of November 8, 1955 were read and approved as read.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
viding for the vacation of a certain portion of a certain public alley within the
City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas . "
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by see -
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
j ordinance and it is Numbered 6012.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro-
{ viding for he acquisition of certain lands within the City of Salina, Kansas, and
for the improvement of thes ame for an off-street parking area."

On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered 6013.

An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Gbmmi.ssioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A-778.
Water Conservation Ordinance was taken up by the Board of Commissioners.
Held over until next meeting.
An ordinance relating to office of Assistant Clerk of City Court was taken
up by the Board of Commissioners.
Held over until next meeting.
City Engineer reported on bids received November 8th31955, for the con-
struction of a Swimming Pool in the City of Salina, Kansas, and recommended that
bid received from Wilson Constructors, Salina, Kansas, in the amount of $165,749.00
be accepted.

Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1675 For the construction of a Sanitary Sewer in alley from Antrim to Otis,
backs of 1200 Block on North Third Street.
1676 For the construction of a Sanitary Seger to serve Parnel Addition.
1681 Curbing and guttering Roach from Mellinger Drive toManor, Riker Addition.
1680 Paving Lewis from Martin to Republic.
1679 Curbing and guttering Lewis from Russell to Cloud.
1678 Curbing and guttering East side of Roach .from Cloud to Claflin.
1677 Curb, gutter and paving Haven Street from Duvall to Steahlin.
1684 Curb, Gutter and paving Third Street from Antrim to Otis.
Referred to petitioners for more signers.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating
to the paving and grading of Lewis Avenue , twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter
to toe of gutter with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over a six (6) inch crushed rock
base, from the north line of Republic Avenue to the south line of Martin Avenue."
Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced for first readingentitled: "A Resolution relating
to the paving and grading of Haven Avenue twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to
toe of gutter, with concrete, from the east line of Duvall Avenue to the west line of
Steahli.n Avenue.'$ Resolution referred to the Board of Oommissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of the south side of Haven Avenue from the -
center line of Duvall Avenue to the center line of Steahlin Avenue." Resolution
was referred to the Board of Commissioners. s
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Roach Street from the center line
of Mellinger Drive to the center line of Manor Road." Resolution was referred
I to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the east side of Roach Street
from the center line of Claflin Avenue to the center line of Cloud Street." Reso-
ltion was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Avenue on the west side from
the center line of Russell Avenue to the center line of Cloud reet; and the curbing,
guttering and grading of Lewis Avenue on the east side, from a point 150 feet south
of the soutr line of Russell Avenue to the center line of Cloud Street." Resolution
was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager-
Paving 600 Block on North Elventh Street.
For sanitary sewer to serve the East 1/2 of Lot 6, Block 10, and the East 1/2
of Lot 8, Block 10, Riverside Park Addition.
Concrete Construction Bond presented from Celestine Spies, d/b/a "Spies
Construction Compaly".
i Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried.
Commissioner Wenger moved that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise
for bids tote received up to and including, Tuesday, November 29th, 1955 at four
o'clock P. M. for the sale of the following City of Salina, Kansas, bonds:

Series P-168 3 56,593.95 4 year period

Series P-169 $292081.66 10 year period
Series F-170 $120,000.00 10 year period
Motion carried.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals November 15th, 1955. Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes,
Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded.
Building Application presented from Leon L. Ashton, et al., for addition to
Ashton Grocery on West Crawford Avenue, (Lots 1 and 2 Block 4, Southern Heights Addition).
Commissioner Wenger moved that City Qerk be instructed to publish Notice of
Hearing for November 22, 1955 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
