08-23-1955 Minutes0 11 1 CJ • • COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SAUNA, KANSAS` AUGUST 23, 1955 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners August 23, 1955. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and CommissiorE rs Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. The minutes oft he Regular Meeting of August 16, 1955 and Special Meeting of August 16th, 1955 were read and approved as read. Harold Pellogrino, Traffic Engineer for State Highway Commission, presented Safety Award for Salina Police Department. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with Brown & Brown, Inc., for the construction of certain curb, gutter, paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending t, a issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5988. The following letters were presented from the City Planning Commission: Recommending that Petition No. 1610 submitted on August 2nd, 1955, by the Salina Concrete Products Company for the vacation of the South 10 feet of Park Street from the west line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad Right -of -Way to the East line of Chicago Street, be denied. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Recommending that Petition No. 1643, submitted by Ben Huser and Wilbur Steed, on August 10th, 1955, for the rezoning of the North 125 feet of the South 393 feet of the East 390 feet of that part of Block 1 in Eisenhower Addition to the City of Sal ina,iiansas; and the North 125 feet of the South 268 feet of the East 390 feet of that part of Block 1 in Eisenhower Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, from Zone "D" to Zone "F" be granted. Approved by Commissioner Exline and City Clerk give notice. Carried. Petition presented for the rezoning of the North 50 feet of the South 105 feet of Lots 9 and 11 on Park Street, Wilson's Addition from "B" Second Dwelling to "C" Apartment District. Referred to City Planning Commission Application for permit to cors truct two 40 -ft. driveways at 662 Broadway, presented from Ben G. Huser. Commissioner Hawkes moved to approve, providing Mr. Huser paved from present highway to his property line. Carried. Discussed Putnam Sand Company water supply. Murray Wilson said there was only enough water there for seven or eight days. The water in pit comes from river through sand. On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
