Meeting was called to orderly Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissionars Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 2nd, 1955 were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and graving of McAdams Road, twentr eight (28) feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the west line of Pearl Avenue to the east line of Lewis Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; 4es: • Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso- lution and it is Numbered 1589. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 392 Resolution Hook 5. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating tothe paving and grading of Duvall Street , twent -eight (28) feet wide, from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete:, from the north line of Crawford Avenue to the north line of Haven Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Lxline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the reso- lution and it is Numbered 1590. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 393 Resolution Book 5. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of the West side of Broadway Boulevard , beginning on the north, directly east of the Southeast corner of Banker's Addition, thence South 318.2 feet more or less to a point directly east of the Northeast corner of SLock 8, Sunset Manor Addition." On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1591. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 394 Resolution Book 5. • An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments agaim t certain property to pay the cost of construct- ing certain sewer and water service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas:." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance wasread and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5983• An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots, and the parkways abutting thereon, in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5984. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1637 Curb, gutter and pave Armory Road. 1639 Paving Phillips Street from Crawford to Charles. • • A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading of Armory Road fort -one (41) feet wide back of curb to back of curb, with concrete, from the edge of present pave- ment on Broadway Boulevard to a line 100 feet west of the west line of Missouri Pacif- ic Railroad right-of-way." Resolution was referred to the Board of Com- missioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the paving and grading of Phillips S�reet with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over six (6) inch crushed rock base, twenty-eight (28) feet wide toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the north line of Crawford Avenue tot he south line of Charles S}reet." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Option to buy Lots 121 and 12 on Fifth Street and Lots 122 and 124 on Fourth Street, Original Town of Salina, Kansas, from Frank L. Eberhardt and Katherine C. Eberhardt, his wife, was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Hawkes moved to accept proposal and City Attorney to draw up the necessary legal papers. Carried. Proposals were presented from F. A. Ostenberg and L. 0. Ostenberg and Busboom and Rauh, to sell to the City of Salina certain property located on the west side of • Fifth Street between Iron Avenue and Walnut Street. Larry Gutsch, Agent, advised to submit additional figures as Commissioners would consider it. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Street Improvement Job 331. Commissioner Exline moved to accept and City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids tobe received up to and including, Tuesday, August 16th, 1955 at four o'clock P. M. Carried. Hearing for 1956 Budget was taken up by the Board of Commissioners. No protests. Commissioner Wenger made motion to adopt 1956 Budget as published. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing a levy of taxes for general revenue and other pur oses by the City of Jalina, Kansas, for the year 1956•" Referred tothe Board of Commissioners. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Estimate Number 19 in the amount of $333046.95 to Melco Inc., for construction of Water Softening Plant. Estimto approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. City Engineer submitted Egtim to Number 1 in the amount of $1,684.70 to L. W. Rexroad & Son Construction for parking lot improvements. Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried. City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 1 in the amount of $6,325.70 to H. J. • Taylor Construction Company for street Improvements provided for in Job 330. Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Concrete Construction Bond presented from Edward A. Brungardt. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Release, relating to thesale of X1.20,000.00 Fire Station Bonds yo Small - Milburn Compaly, Wichita, Kansas;, was received. Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. Letter was presented from City Planning Commission relating to Petitions 1641 and 1642. Commissioner Hawkes moved to approve rezoning from "A" to "D" and City Clerk instructed to give thirty -days notice, also property for Tourist Court, under Section 3. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance re- lating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina., Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering and paving Eleventh Street with concrete, thirty-six (36) feet f`rdm face of curb to face of curb from the north line of Grand Avenue to the south line of Broadway Boulevardl of curbing, guttering, pav ng and gradtng Pearl Street with concrete twenty-eight (28) feet toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the north line of Martin Avenue to the south line of McAdams Road; of paving and grading Republic Avenue from the east line of the Missouri Pacific Right-of-way to the center line of Broadway Boulevard; of paving and grading Roach Street with concretg twenty-eight (28) feet toe of gutter to toe of gutter from the north line of Ellsworth Avenue to the south line of Kirwi.n Avenue; of paving • Wood Avenue with concrete from the south line of Crawford Avenue tothe north line of Bond Avenue; and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments."
