Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 19, 1955• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was cal led and Co mmissioners Lake, Exline
and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey
absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 12, 1955 were read and approved
as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of Franklin Street from the center
line of Shawnee Avenue to the center line of Hancock Street."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was c lled and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake,
Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (01 Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey absent,. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1578.

A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and paving and grading of West Walnut Street,
Thirty-three (33) feet back of curb to back of curb, with concrete, from the west
line of Clark Street to the center line of B%adway Boulevard."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake,
Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1579.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for
the construction of certain curbing, guttering and grading improvements on certain
streets in the City of Salina, Kansas , and providing for the issuance of temporary
notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuanceand sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Lake, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commi.ssi one rs Hawkes and Ramsey absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5974.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
regulating parking on a part of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas;
providing for a penalty for the violation thereof, repealing Section 24-14M9, Revised
Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansaa, for 1948; and supplementing Section
24-1412,1 Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, 1948.
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Lake, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commission rs Hawkes and
Ramsey absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5976.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
authorizing the raising of funds to be contribut6d to the Kansas Military Board for
acquiring or constructing an Armory for the City of Salina, Kansas, Kansas, to be
used by the Kansas National Guard and the Kansas State Guard, as provided for by
Article 3 of Chapter 48 of the General Statutes of Kansas, or 1949, and all amend-
ments thereto, and providing for the issuance of $80,000.00 in General Obligation
Bonds of said city designated as Series A-166 to pay the cost of same."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5977•

A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution relating
to changing size of street lights on Santa Fe Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Exline the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake,
Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1580.

A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing
the Mayor to sign contract with Mi ssuri Pacific Railroad Company for sewer pipe
line to serve Ingermanson's Addition."

On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake,
Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commission;rs Hawkes and Ramsey absent. Mayor
approved he resolution and it is Numbered 1581.

appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline and Wenger (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Hawkes and Ramsey
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-761.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."

Plat of Southern View Addition was presented.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
No persons appeared to protest against the rezonirg of Lots 1 through 8, Block
1 and Lots 1 through 8, $Lock 2, Riker Addition to the City of Salina, Kansa, from
Zone "A" to Zone "B".
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance proud-
ing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein
and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City
andrescribin the
p g proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board
of Commissioners.
• City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1627 Curb and gutter Mellinger Street from Roach to Ohio.
1628 Curb and gutter Lewis Avenue from McAdams to Dellinger.
1629 Paving Illinois Street from Merrill to Sheridan.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading of Illinois Street with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix
over six (6) inch rock base, from the east line of Merrill Street to the west line of
Sheridan Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of Dellinger Street from the east line of
Roach Street to the west line of Ohio Street." Resolution was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis Street from the center line of
McAdams Road to the center line of Mellinger Street. Resolution was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.

A resolution was introduced fo first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading of Lewis Sreet with two (2) inch hot asphalt mix over
six (6) inch rock base, from the south 1 ne of Jewell Avenue to the north line of Kirwin
• Avenue." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
levying special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing
certain sewer and water service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City
of Salina, Kansas." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Paving Ellsworth Avenue from Roach to Lewis.
Paving alley east of Twelfth, from Elm to Bishop.
City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for the construction of Lateral
Sanitary Sewers Numbered 320 and 325. Approved by Commissioner Exline.
Carried.
City Attorney stated that due to the inadvertant omission of a part of the
submitted copy of "Notice of Bond Election" by the Salina Journal, the election
had on bonds -Cor the fire station and sewers is void. It will b e necessary that an
election be held on these issues at a later date.
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
