Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners July 5, 1955. Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Co mmissioners Lake,
Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger and Acting City Attorney Lillard responded.

The minutes ofthe Regular Meeting of June 28, 1955 wereread and approved as
read. '
A resolution was introduced and gassed entitled: "Joint Resolution of the
County of Saline and the City of Salina, establishing by Resolution a Mental Health
Clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of Mental Illness under provisions authorized
by Chapter 285, Session Laws of Kansas 1955•"
On motioh of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and •
on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
resolution and it is Numbered 1577.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 379 and 380 Resolution
Book Number 5.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 andthe Zoning District Map
therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property
within the City and prescribing t_.,e proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Fxline the ordinance was read and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered 5967.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for
the construction of certain main sewer and lateral sanitary sewers in the City of
Salina, Kansas., heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 315, 3163
317 and 318 and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost
thereof pnding issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is Numbered 5968.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutter-
ing and grading of Claflin Avenue from the center line of Roach Street to the
center line of Lewis Street; of Eighth Street from the center line of Grand Avenue to
the center line of Decatur Street; of rrankli.n Street from the center line of
Seminole Avenue tothe center line of Shawnee Avenue; of Kzrwi n Avenue from the
center line of Roach S reet to the center line of Lewis S reet; of Lewis Street
from the A
center line Claflin Avenue to the center line tf Kirwin Avenue; of
McAdams Road from the center line of Roach Street to the center line of Pearl Street;

tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Lake, Exline, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A-760.
Letter received from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition
Number 1620, filed by Osborne K. Webster and Hudson I-roperties, Inc., for the vaca-
tion of Whittredge Street south of Broadway Boulevard and North of :north Street,
in the City of Salina, Kansas,, be approved.
Accepted by Commissioner Exline. Carried.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the vacation of a portion of a certain street in the City of Salina..
Kansas." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commission rs.
Wilson and Gbmpany, Engineers, submitted Estimate No. 7 in the amount of
$4148.64
to telco Inc.
Approved by Commissioner Exline. Carried.
City Engineer submitted Estimlte Number 3 in the amount of 449,090.05 to
H. J. Taylor Construction Company for Job 326.
Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried.
City Engineer submitted Estimate Number 2 in the amount of $22,865.26 to
Brown a Brown, Inc., for Job 324.
Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried.
Concrete Construction Bond received from Leonard 11ildfelt.
Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Application for Cereal Lalt beverage License presented from:
Paul G. Allen "Allen's Steak House" 326 South Broadway.

Commissioner Exline moved that application be approved and license granted.
Carried.
Commissioner Wenger moved that bilayor be authorized to sign Indemnification
Agreement between the City of Salina and Clarence 0. Ingermanson, Gettrude H. Talley,
and the M ssouri Pacific Railroad relating to extension of water and sewer line to
"Ingermanson Heights Addition." Carried.
Petition was presented for the curbing, guttering and paving of Walnut Street
from Clark Street to Broadway Boulevard. Petition referred to City hanager.
Petition presented protesting the rezoning of Lot 8, Block 12, Leavenworth
Addition to Zone "D."' Petition referred to City Planning Commission.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance
prescribing the salaries of certain officers of the City of Salina, and repeaing
Section 1-611 of Ordinance Number 5931." Ordinancevas referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
City Man ager reported on Petition No. 1623 for the construction of a lateral
sanitary sewer in the alley at the rear of Lots 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30; also Lots
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, all in Block 5, Stack Place, an
addition to the City of Salina, Kansas.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creat-
ing and defining certain lateral sanitary sewer districts in the City of Salina,
Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 320 and 325, and
providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in each of said Lateral
Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 320 and 325, so created, and providing for the
payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against the
property ins aid districts for the payment of the cost of such construction, and
for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.

Approved by Commissioner Wenger. Carried.
Commissioner Exline moved to approve settlement of Poster Frederick claim
for $500.00. Carried.
Commissioner Wenger moved to authorize the sum of $600.00 out of Industrial
Fund. Carried.
Commissioner Exline moved to approve recessed parking for Brown and Brown, Inc.
on Front Street and Crawford Avenue. Carried.
City. Engineer filed plans and specifications for curbing, guttering and
paving Job No. 330.
Approved by Commissioner Exline and advertise for bids to be received July
12th, 1955 at four o'clock P. M. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the Board of Commissiones adjourned.

Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, July 5, 1955• Meeting was called
to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Exline, Hawkes,
Ramsey and Wenger and Acting City Attorney Lillard responded. City Attorney
Clark absent.
Application of George R. Sawaya, 126 South Clark Street was taken up by
the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Commissioner Hawkes moved that application be denied. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned.
