JUNE 7, 1955 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners June 7, 1955• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissiorers Lake, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger, and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Exli.ne absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 31, 1955, Special. Meeting of May 31, 1955 a nd Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals May 31, 1955 were ead and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Hawkes, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Exline absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-755• An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an • appropriation for the payment of certain claims." Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bid was received for the resurfacing of Viaduct (Job 327) as follows: Brown and Brown, Inc., $5200,00 City Engineer's Estimate $5600.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to Brown and Brown, Inc., as per bid submitted in the amount of $5200.00. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted proposal for Indian Rock Park. Referred to City Manager to report at Meeting of June 21, 1955• Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted a proposal for services in con- nection with City Planning, Salina, Kansas Action on proposal deferred until Meeting of Jund 21, 1955. City Manager reported on the following petition: No. 1610 _ For paving Charles Street from Eleventh to Twelfth. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution • relating to the paving and grading of Charles Street , twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with Two 2 inch hot mix asphalt mix over six (6) inch rock base, from the west line of Eleventh to the East line of Twelfth". Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following letters were received from the City Planning Commission: Recommending that Plat of Countryside Addition, submitted by Bert Breon be approved. Accepted by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. Recommending that Petition No. 1613 filed by Riker, Inc., for the rezoning of Lots 1 through 8. Block 1; and Lots 1 through 8 Block 2, Riker Addition, be rezoned from Zone "A" to Zone "B". Accepted by Commissioner Ramsey and City Clerk instructed to publish thirty -day Notice. Carried. Recommending that Petition No. 1614, submitted by Frank A. Thill, Bishop of Roman Catholic Church of Salina, Kansas, to extend the corporate limits of the City so as to include that part of the NE/4 of the NW/4 of Section 14, South, Range 3, West of the 6th P. M. in Saline County, Kansas, lying east of the Right -of -Way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company be approved. Accepted by Commissioner Wenger. Carried. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for Lateral Sanitary Sewer Number 318. • Approved by Commissioner Ramsey. Carried. • • • L 1 0 Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Clerk advertise for bids to be received 1. up to and including Monday, June 28th, 1955, at four o'clock P. 1. for the construc- tion of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 315 to 318 inclusive. Carried. Wilson and Company, Engineers, submitted Proposal for Contract on Flood Con- trol Project, City of Salina, Kansas Contract referred to City Manager and City Attorney. Petition presented for sewers to serve Lots 1 to 11 inclusive, in Replat of Garden Home Addition, Block 3. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, gutter- ing, paving and grading with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete over a six-inch rock stabilized base, 32 feet wide from face of curb to face of curb, Birch Drive from the north line of Lot 9, Block 8, and the north line of Lot 23, Block 7, all in Replat of Edgemere Addition, to the west line of Hemlock Drive; grading and paving with two-inch hot mixed asphaltic concrete over a six-inch rock stabilized base, Hemlock Drive 28 feet toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from t e north line of Lot 7, Block 9, Replat of Edgemere Addition to the south line of Redwood Drive; curbing, guttering and grading of Hemlock Drive from the north line of Lot 7, Block 9, Replat of Edgemere Addition to the center line of Redwood Drive; and relating to and provid- ing for the collection and payment of such assessments." Ordinance was re- ferred to the Board of Commissioners.
