Meeting iwas c alled to order by Mayor Lake, the roll was c aled and Commissioners Lake, -Exline, Ramsey and Wenger and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Hawkes absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 12, 1955 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance regulating the business of gul g producing crude petropleum within the City. of Salina, Kansas, prescribing penalties for the violation thereof and repealing Ordinance ivo . 591. On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the f ollowing vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5949. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the amendmem of Zoning Ordinance 55.9 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Wenger the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Vommissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5950. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Claflin Avenue , to a width of twenty-eight (28) feet from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, from the east line of Roach to the west line of Lewis, with six (6) inches crushed rock base and two (2) inches hot asphalt mix." p t On motion of Commissioner Wenger the resolution was adopted as read and { on its final a doption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1542. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 342 Resolution Book 5. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Simmons Street, twenty-eight (28) feet wide from toe of gutter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the south line of Cloud Street to the north line of Charlotte Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was c al led and the follovdrig vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approvedche resolution and it is Numbered 15.3. The above resolution is recorded: in f ull on Page 343 Resolution Book 5. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, gutterirg and grading on the east side, and the paving with six-inch reinforced concrtete, twenty (20) feet wide, rom toe of gutter to edge of slab, West Place from the north line of University to the south line of State Street." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1544. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 344 Resolution Hook 5. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certainclaims." On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption tr,e roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Exline, Ramsey and Wenger (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hawkes absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-750. I Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the razing of the Elks Building as follows: American Wrecking Company $1370.00 Johnson Bros. Construction Company 2239.00 Ted Hall, the Wrecker 1735.00 George D. Bischoff 1950.00 Nordboe Brothers 243500.00 City Engineer's Estimate 3020.00 Commissioner Wenger moved that contract be awarded to American Wrecking Com- pany and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders. Carried. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for Pump to be used for River Intake, as follows: Salina Supply Company Worthington Pump Company Engineer's Lstimate 04401.50 4717.00 1800.00 Bids were referred to Wilson &Company, Engineers, to check and report at next meeting. Carried. City Manager reported on letters received from Nursing Home Administrators in the City of Salm , Kansas. City Manager reported on the following petitions: 1580 Paving Simmons Street from Charlotte to Leslie. 1564 Sanitary Sewer for Lots 23 to 29, Hock 6; Lots 1 to 6 in Block 6; Lots 13 to 19 and 1 to 6 block 4; and Lots 1 to 3 Block 21 Sunset Manor APi tion. 1579 Paving Morningside Drive from Roach to Sunrise. 1570 Curb and gutter North side of Crawford Avenue from Whittinghill to Viemont. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A hesolution relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of the North side of Crawford Avenue from the center line of Yiittinghill Avenue to the center line of Viemont Avenue." Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Simmons Street , Twenty -Eight (28) feet wide, fromtoe of gutter to toe of gutter., with concrete, from the south line of Charlotte Street to he south line of Leslie Street." Resolution was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the paving and grading of Morningside Drive, Twenty-eight,, (28) feet wide, from toe of #utter to toe of gutter, with concrete, from the east line of Sunrise D iveto the west line of Roach 64eet." Resolution was referred to the Board7of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance creating and defining a certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 315, and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 315, so created, and providing for the payment of the ost thereofandor the levying of special assessments against the property insaid district for the payment of he cost of such construction,and f orthe issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." Leckband for the rezoning of Lots 1 and 3, Block 6, Wood's R 'plat of Bond's Addition to Zone "D" be denied. Commissioner Wenger moved to accept recommendation. Carried. Recommending that Petition 1562 submitted by F. L. Parks or the rezoning of certain land south of Walnut Street and East of U. S. 81 By -Pass, to be used as a Trailer Court, be denied. Commissioner Wenger moved to accept recommendation. Carried. Plat of Country Side Addition was; presented and referred to the City Plan- ning Commission. Commissioner Wenger move that City Manager negotiate contract with Wilson & Company, Engineers, on Flood Control Project proposaland submit final contract for approval. Carried. Commissioner Ramsey moved that City Clerk give Agenda Items of interest to the public. to Salina Journal on Monday, and state time and date of keeting. Commissioner Ramsey appointed a member of Flood Control Committee. On motion of Commissioner Ramsey the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
