BE IT REMEMBERED, That on, Friday, March 25, 1955, the Board of Commission-
ers of the City of Salina, Kansas, met as a Board of canvassers, (ex -officio) as pro-
vided by law, to canvass the vote cast at the Primary Election held in Salina, Kansas,
March 22, 1955•
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Wenger, t he r oll was called and Commis-
sioners Wenger, Barcafer and Hawkes responded. Commissioners Cobb and Lake and
City Attorney Clark absent.
The returns of the Primary Election were presented by the City Clerk, nd
opened by the Mayor in the presence of the Commissioners assembled, duly canvassed
and the result declared.
On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the City Clerk was instructed to spread
upon the Journal the result of the canvass which is done as follows:

MARCH 29, 1955
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 29, 1955• Meeting was
called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger, Bar-
cafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 22, 1955; Special Meeting of
March 22, 1955 and Canvassing Board Meeting of March 251 1955 were read and approved
as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A hesolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of the North side of Crawford Av_enue_, from
the center line of Steahlin Avenue tot he center line of Whittinghill Avenue."
1 On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution wasadopted as ead and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1534.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 333 Resolution Book Number 5.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution re-
lating to the curbing, guttering and paving with concrete, 33 feet wide back of curb
to back of curb, Chicago Street from the center line of Broadway Boulevard to the
North Right -of -Way of the Union Pacific Railroad."

On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1535.
The above resol-lition is recorded in full on Page 334 Resolution Book Number 5.
The following -resolution was introduced and passed: "A resolution authorizing
a special use of certainproperty in the City of Salina and regulating such use and
providing for the revocation or termination of such authorized use."
On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the resolution was adopted as read and on
its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution
and it is Numbered 1536.
The above resolution is recorded in full on Pages 335 and 336, Resolution
Book Number 5.

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain Main Sewer and Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina,
! Kansas., heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 311, 312, 313 and
314, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pend-
ing issuance and sale of bonds."

On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:

nance and it is Numbered 5946.
The following letters were received from the City Planning Commission:

Recommending that Petition Number 1551 submitted by Mr. B. R. Becker, for the
extension of Zone "F" to include Lot 6 on North Eleventh Street, Vieaver's Addition to
the City of Salina, Kansas, be denied. Commissioner Lake moved to accept. j
Carried.
Recommending that Petition Number 1566 submitted by Mr. L. B. Soldan, for the
rezoning of Lots 16 to 28, "alker's Addition from Zone "B" to Zone "E" and Lot 10, in
I Surveyor's Plat "G" from Zone "B" to Zone "E" be approved. Commissioner Lake
moved to accept. Carried. City Clerk instructed to publish thirty -day
Notice.

Recommending that Petition Number 1574 s ubmittee by Roy Rice,fbr the rezoning
of Lot 11, HLock 13, Pacific Addition,:&om Zone "B" to Zone "D" be approved. Commission-�
er Cobb moved to accept. Carried. City Clerk instructed to publish thirty -day
Notice.

Letter presented from lvlrs. W. D. Siebert, 428 South Eleventh Street, Salina,
Kansas, asking about passing an ordinance to make it illegal for persons to discard
_ce boxes, refrigerators or any such container. that is large enough for a child
to get into, without first having taken the door off or padlocking it securely; and
also to have cisterns that are not being used filled up or boarded and nailed up and
for those being used to have a tight cover that a child could not take off. Petition
referred to the City Manager.
Petition presented from R. D. Hensley et al., for the vacation of east and
west alley south of Republic from Quincy to Osborne. Referred to City Planning
Commission.

Commissioner Lake moved to name the new park land purchased "Indian Rock
Park. It Carried.
