Regula Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 22, 1955• meeting w
called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was cal.ed and Commissioners Wenger, Cc
Barcafer, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes ofthe Regula meeting of the Board of Commissioners of March
15, 1955 and Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals of March 15, 1955 wereread and ap-
proved as read.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordi-
nance and it is Numbered A-744.
Pursuant to Notice published in the official City paper, bids w ere re-
ceived for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 311, 312, 313 and
314 as follows:
H. J. Taylor Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $8,384.00
C. N. McCollum Construction Company, Salina, Kansas $9,028.00
City Engineer's bstimate $8,411.00
Commissioner Hawkes moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Con-
struction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of $8,384.00 and that check be
returned to unsuccessful bidder. Carried.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance rati-
fying and confirming a contract with H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the
construction of certain main sewer and Lateral Sanitary Sewers in the City of Salina,
Kansas, heretofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 311, 312, 313, 314,
and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending
issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the board of Commis-
sioners.
Mayor appointed J. Earl Wyatt, Harley Ibse and C. B. Dodge, Jr. to act as
appraisers for Lateral Sanitary Sewers 311, 312, 313 and 314. Approved by Commis-
sioner Cobb. Carried.
City Manager reported on the following petitions:
1560 Curb, Gutter and pave Chicago Street from Broadway Boulevard to
North Right-of-way of Union Pacific Railroad.
1561 Curb and gutter Norths ide of Crawford Avenue from Steahlin to
Whittinghill.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering of the North side of Crawford Avenue from the
center line of Steahlin Avenue to the center line of Whittinghill Avenue." Referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, guttering and paving with concrete, 33 feet wide back of
curb to back of curb, Chicago Street from the center line of Broadway Boulevard
to the North Right -of -Way of the Union Pacific Railroad." Referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Letter presented from Central Kansas Fish and Game Association, relating
to the Kids Fishing Pond at the Disposal Plant. `They stated they did not wish to
renew their leg.se with the City. Referred tothe Recreation Commission.

Letter was received from the Nursing Home Administrators of Salina, regard-
ing matters of fire safety in the area of each respective Home. Referred to the
City manager to report at Meeting of April 19th, 1955•
Letter was presented rom Erleen Lindeman, Principal of Gleniffer Hill School,11
relating to ordinance passed by the Board of Co mmissioners concerning safety measures
for in -city oil wells and tanks. Referred to the City Manager.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Black top paving Fairview Street.
Sanitary Sewer in Blocks 1,2,3,1, West Haven First Addition.
Water Main in Blocks 1,2,3,4 West Haven First Addition.
Curb and gutter North side of Crawford Avenue from Whittinghill to Viemont.

The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Planning
Commission: ---
To rezone Lots 1 and 3, Flock 61 Woods Replat Bond's Addition to
Zone "D"
To rezone Lot 11, B lock 13, Pacific Addition from Zone "B" to Zone "D"
To bring West -Haven Addition into the corporate limits of Salina, Kansas.
Letter presented from Traffic Department, recommending t -e installation of
a four-way Stop Sign at Seventh and Decatur. Commissioner Lake moved to
approve. Carried.
On motion of Commissioner Cobbthe Board of Commissioners adjourned.

Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 22., 1955. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Wenger., the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger,
Barcafery Cobb, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded.
Meeting was held for the purpose of acting on the Appraisers Reports
for the construction of Lateral Sanitary Sewers Numbered 302, 303, 304 9nd 305
and for Main Sewer "P.
No protests.
Commissioner Hawkes moved to accept and approve.
On motion of Commissioner Cobb., Board of Commissioners adjourned.
