Regula: Meeting of the Board of Commissioners March 15, 1955• Meeting
was.c&l.ed to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was caled and Commissioners Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 8th, 1955 were read and
approved as read.
A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing, gutterin;: and grading of the North side of Claflin Avenue
from the center line of Lewis to t he center line of Ohio."
On motion of Commis oner Cobb the resolution was adopted as r ead and on its
final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes.: Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolu-
tio n and it is Numbered 1533•
The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 332 Resolution Book 5. •
An ordinance was introdued for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
regulating parking on a part of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas,
providing for a penalty for the violation thereof and amending Section 24-1412A,
Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948, as amended and repealing
the orig nal and prior amendments of Section 24-1412A of Ordinance Number 5815,
aforesaid."
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the followin vote was
had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (U Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5943.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
regulating the business of producing crude petroleum within the City of Salina,
Kansas and prescribing penalties for the violation thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance wasread and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: �O) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5944.
An ordinance was introducedfor second reading entitled: "An ordinance
regulating the erection and use of barbed wire fences in the City of Salina, and
repealing Ordinance No. 18-1136, Revised Ordinance of the City of Salina, Kansas
1948."
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the ordinance was read and adopted by •
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor
approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5945.
An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an
appropriat-.on for the pWment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes tie ordinance wasread and adopted by sec-
tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the
ordinance and it is Numbered A-743.
The matter of rezoning from "A" to "D" Lots 14, 15, 16 and that part of
Lot 19, lying North of the South line of said lots 14, 15, 16, extended East, except
the East 35 feet thereof, all in Surveyor's Plat g, in the City of Salina, Kansas,
was taken up by the Board of Commissiom rs.
Commissioner Lake moved that action be deferred until the first meeting
in September 1955. Carried.
Letter was presented from Cit Planning Commission recommending that Petition
Number 1558 submitted by Mrs. Lucille ahill for the rezoning of Lots 3 and 5, Block
4, College View Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "B" be approved; and also recommending
that Lot 1, in Block 4, and Lots 2, 4 and 6 in Block 2, College View Addition be
rezoned from Zone "A" to Zone "B".
Commissioner Hawkes moved to approve and City Clerk publish thirty days
Notice in the official City paper. Carried. 0

Letter was presented from the City Planning Commission recommending that
Petition Number 1559 submitted by the Dodge Agency for the rezoning of Lot 4., in
Surveyor's Plat 12 on Gypsum Avenue be approved; and further recommending that the
adjoining lot, Lot 5, also be ezoned from Zone "All to Zone "B".
Commissioner Cobb moved to approve and City Clerk publish thirty days Notice
in the official City paper. Carried.
Mayor appointed the following Judges and Clerks for the Primary Election of
March 22
1955 and for City Election of April 5th., 1955:

missioners. Carried.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager:
Curb and gutter,East side of West Place from University Place to State Street;
and or paving West Place from University Place to State Street.
Curb and gutter Mohawk Avenue; Seminole Avenue and Shawnee Avenue, between
Franklin and the south line of city leased premises east of U. S. 81 By-pass and _
south of Crawford Avenue in Sunset Manor Addition.
Sanitary Sewers for Lots 23 to 29 inclusive and Lots 1 to 6, inclusive,
Block 6; Lots 13 to 19 inclusive and Lots 1 to 6 inclusive in HLock 4, and Lots
1 to 7 inclusive, HLock 2, Sunset Manor Addition, CLty of Salina., Kansas.

of Walnut Street and East of 81 By -Pass. Referred to the City Planning Commis-
sion.
Electric Wiring Bond presented from Wm. P. porton, Manager of TheMid-States
Armature Works. Approved by Commissioner Lake.
Letters presented from S F. Bowell, relating to sidewalks and water line
on Wisconsin Avenue from Iron Avenue to Gypsum Avenue. Referred to the City
Manager.
Contract was entered into between the City of Salina and Kenneth H. Baker
for the operation of a Miniature Steam Train within Oakdale Park, and on such loca-
tion as, approved by the Park Superintendent and the City Manager.
Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried.
Petition Number 1551 submitted by B. R. Becker, for the extension of Zone "F"
to include Lot 6, North Elventh Street, Weave 's Addition to the City of Salina,
Kansas, was referred back to the City Planning Commission.
On motion of Commissioner Hawkes the Board of Commissioners adjourned.

MARCH 15, 1955
Meeting of Board of Zoning Appeals, March 15th, 1955• fleeting was
called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was celled and Commissioners Wenger,
Barcafer, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded.
Hearing was held on property owned by Clair Dell Hoffman and ki.ldred
Worsley for rezoning of property located on the southwest corner of Ninth Street
and Cloud 6treet for the operation of a Skating Rink.
Approved by the Board of Commissioners and City Attorney instructed to
draw up a Resolution with restrictions. Carried.
On motion of Co mmissioner Hawkes, Board ;Zoning peals adjourned.
