JANUARY 10, 1955 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners January 10, 1955• Meeting was called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was cal ledand Commissioners Wenger, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Barcafer absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 3, 1955 wereread and approved as read. i An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance creat- ing and defini.n a certain Lateral Sanitary Sewer District in the City of Salina, Kansas, designated as: Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 311 and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in said Lateral Sanitary Sewer District Number 311 so created, and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, for the levy- ing of special assessments against the property insaid district for the payment of the cost of such construction and for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Cobb, Hawkes and Lake (4) Nays: �O) Commissioner Barcafer absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5930. Hearing on petition for the rezoning of the North 1/2 of Block 2, Wymore Addi- tion to District "C" was. again taken yp by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Lake moved that petition be denied. Carried. Hearing on petition for the rezoning of Block 1, Wymore Addition to District "B" was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Cobb moved that petition be denied. Carried. i, Plat was presented for Replat of Blocks six and eight in Claflin Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. Commissioner Lake moved to approve. Carried. Letter received from J. E. Travis, Fire Chief, relating to house located at 1339 :forth Third Street, Salina, Kansas Ordered filed. Application for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from Warren Allison, d/b/a Allison Food Market, 1501 South Ninth Street. Commissioner Lake moved that application be approved and license granted. Motionadopted. Electrician's Bonds presented from: Edward J�L. Layton Central Kansas Electric Machinery Company. Approved by Commissioner Hawkes. Carried. Petitions presented for the curbing, guttering and paving of: Decatur Street from Santa Fe Avenue to Fifth Street. Connecticut Avenue (400 $Lock) I Petitions referred to City Manager. Wilson & Company, Engineers, filed Estimate Number 1 to Salina Manufacturing Company, in the amount of 0032.00 for Revisions to Dorr Equipment. Approved by Commissioner Lake. City Engineer filed Estimate Number 3 in the amount of 0'9,623.90 to Layne- Wester Company, for covering two gravel wall wells, and equipment. Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. City Engineer filed Final Estimate to C. N. McCollum Construction Compay for the construction of Main Sanitary Sewer "Z" and Lateral Sanitary Sewers 302 to 305 inclusive T Approved by Commissioner Lake. Carried. 'i Change Orders - Water Softening Plant. idelco Inc., $6118.91 out and $5557.24 in. Difference $561.27. Approved by Commissioner Cobb and autt.orize City Manager to sign. Carried. I Mr. J. J. Vanier, of the Western Star Milling Compary, granted permission to i install conveyor belt across Fourth Street from Western Star Mill to Salina Seed Com- pany. I An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance prescrib- ing the salaries of certain officers of the City of Salina, and repealing Sections 1-602 to 1-611, both inclusive, of Ordinance Number 5742." Ordinance referred to Board of Commissioners. i Commissioner Hawkes moved that next meeting of Board of Commissioners of January 17th, 1955 be held at 4:00 P. M. Carried.
