Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners October 11, 1954. Meeting
was called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger,
Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner
Cobb absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 4, 1954 were read and approved
as: read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
creating and defining certain lateral sanitary sewer districts in the City of
Salina, Kansas;, designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 307 and 308,
and providing for the construction of a lateral sanitary sewer in each of said
Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts Numbered 307 and 308, so created, and providing
for the payment of the cost thereof and for the levying of special assessments against
the property in said districts for the payment of the cost of such construction and
for the issuing of bonds to pay the cost thereof." •
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Wenger, Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Cobb absent.
Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5905.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
providing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance 5549 and the Zoning District Yap
therein and thereby adopted, and providing for the rezoning of certain property within
the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections
and on its final adoption the roll was calledand the following vote was had; Ayes:
Wenger, Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake (4) Nays: �0) Commissioner Cobb absent.
Mayor approvedthe ordinance and it is Numbered 5906.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company, for
the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements
on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of tempo-
rary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Cobb absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5907•
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance •

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with Brown and Brown, Inc., for the construction
of certain curb and guttering and paving and grading improvements on certain streets
in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the
cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was
had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner
Cobb absent. Mayor approvedthe ordinance and it is Numbered 5909.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance
ratifying and confirming a contract with L. W. Rexroad and Son, for the construction
of a certain storm sewer in the City of Salina, Kansas:, heretofore designated as
Claflin Avenue Storm Sewer, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to
pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds."

On motion of Commissioner Cunningham tl.e ordinance was read and adopted by
sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had;
Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cunningham and Lake (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Cobb
absent. Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5910.

j r City Manager reported on the following petitions:
j 1505 Concrete paving of Pearl Street from McAdams to Martin.
1511 Curb and gutter East side of Roach from Jewell to Kirwin; and paving
Roach from Ellsworth to Kirwin.
{ A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution
relating to the curbing and guttering and grading of the East side of Roach Street
j from the center line of Jewell Avenue to the center line of Kirwin Avenue." Resolution
referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the paving and grading with concrete, 28 feet toe of gutter to toe of gutter,
Roach Street from the north line of Ellsworth Avenue tothe south line of Kirwin Avenue."
• Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was -introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat-
ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading with concrete, 28 feet toe of gutter
to toe of gutter, Pearl Street from the north line of Martin Avenue to the south line
of McAdams Road." Resolution referred to the Board of Commissioners.

Application presented from H. W. Steele to construct four driveways 40 feet
long; two at 50 feet wide and two at 20 feet widem located at 700 South Broadway,
(U. S. Highway 81 and Crawford Avenue). Commissioner Lake moved to approve. Carried.)
Report filed by Fire Chief Travis relating to house located at 924 North Fifth
Street. a Commissioner Cunningham moved to accept report and notify owners to
remove same. Carried.
Building Application presented from R. L. Ramsey asking for permit to erest a
structure to be located on Lot 10, Block 7, Pacific Addition (827 North Santa Fe Avenue)
to be used for a storage building for Used Car Lot. Commissioner Barcafer
moved to comply with requirements of Ordinance. Carried.
Petition presented from C. E. Pettle to waive the established setback line to
a distance of about 18 feet from the curb, or in line with the front porch of residence
on Lots 15 and 14, Plat "C", Salina, Kansas. Referred to petitioner to make
application in regular way.
The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Planning Com-
mission:
To rezone Lot 17, Surveyors Plat 8 from Zone "A" to Zone "B".
To rezone Lots 37, 39, Ellsworth Avenue in the. Addition of Grounds of
Kansas Wesleyan University from Zone "A" to Zone "B".
Petition was presented for water main extension to provide service to the fol-
lowing properties on Redwood Drive and Willow Lrive, of part of Replat of Edgemere
Addition:
All of Lots 14 to 43 Block 6.
All of Lots 1 to 12 Block 5,
All of Lots 2 to 20 Block 7.
Above petition referred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Lake the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
