Commissioner Wenger absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of luay 214, 19514 and Special Meeting of kay 28, 1954 were read and approved as read. i An.ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance condemn- ing certain land within the City of Salina, Kansas for the use of said City in the widening of the south side of Cloud Street from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line of U. S. 81 By -Pass; fixing a Benefit District therefor; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof." f ' Onmotion of Commissioner Darcafer the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Cobb, Cunningham and Barcafer (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levy- ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing certain water service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the ordinance wasread and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Barcafer, Cobb and Cunningham (4) Nays: �O) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5864. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering and grading of Franklin Street from the center line of Seminole Avenue to the center line of Shawnee Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Cobb, Cunningham and Barcafer (14) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. A resolution was introduced and passed relating to street lights on Iron Avenue from Iowa Street to Marymount Road. On motion of Commissioner barcafer the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Darcafer, Cobb nd Cunningham (4) Naysa (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-705. An ordinance was introduced and passed entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered A-706. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lots 14, 15 and 16, Smith & Colvards Addition, Salina, Kansas:, to District "D" Local Business. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for the paving of certain streets provided for in Ordinance Number 5859 known as Job Number 316. Approved by oammissioner Barcafer and City Clerk instructed to advertise for bids to be received up to and including MondcV, June 21st, 1954 at 7:30 o'clock P. U. Carried. The matter of constructing a Boat Ramp tote taken up at Budget time. City Attorney reported on Swimming Pool and P rk land. Will have Ordinance and Notice for Election in August, drawn up on or beFore June 21, 1954• City Engineer filed Final Estimate in the amount of $4864.52 to West Painting Company for painting water tanks. Approved by Commissioner Barcafer. Carried. Wilson & Company, Engineers, filed Estimate Number 4 in the amount of 451,457.85, to 1vMelco Inc., for construction of Water Softening Plant. Approved by Commission- er Cunningham. Carried. Plat of Bailey Addition filed. Referred to the City Planning Commission. Dedicatory Deed filed by Arlo H. Bailey and Rachel E. bailey for fifteen feet on Jewell Avenue. Referred to the City Planning Commission. Petition presented from 0. K. Webster for the rezoning of all of Block 2, Wymore Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas Referred to the City Planning Commission. Petition presented for a 4yalk-Way between Tenth and Eleventh Streets at the division of the 200 and 300 Blocks, to connect with the alley way running from Spruce to the west side of Eleventh Street on the west,and connecting with the sidewalk on the north side of Bartlett School grounds. Referred to the City Attorney. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City Manager: Sanitary Sewer in Blocks 1 and 2, Bailey Addition. Building Application presnted from Douglas G. Hill for Lots 4. 7 and 9, Block 6, Kraft Manor Addition No. 2. Commissioner Barcafer moved that City Clerk give Notice of Hearing for June 14, 1954. Carried. Building Application presented from Frank Fessler for Highland Avenue and Prescott Avenue . Commissioner .8arcafer moved that Application be denied. Carried.
