LAY 24, 1954 An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled s "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, mbb and Cunningham (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Wenger and Cunning- ham absent. Acting payor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5860. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance con- demning certain land within the City of Salina, ansas, for the use of said City in the opening and extending of Ohio Street, south to its intersection with the north line of j Cloud Street; fixing a benefit district therefor, and providing for the payment of the costs thereof." j On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: i Lake, Cobb and Barcafer (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Wenger and Cunningham absent. A resolution was introduced and passed entitled: "A Resolution authorizing and providing for the issuance of Temporary Note of the City of Salina,Yansas, in the sum of X47,919.52 to pay a portion of the cost of improving a certain street in the City of Salina, Kansas., to be designated as Series PT*17 pending the issuance of bonds to pay the cost of said work." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Cobb and Barcafer (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Wenger and Cunningham absent. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance relat- ing to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of balina, Kansas, to pay the cost of paving and grading Eighth Street from the north line of Grand Avenue to the south line of Woodland Avenue; for the paving and grading of College Avenue from the south line of Pres- cott to the north line of Morrison Avenue; for the paving and grading of Ellsworth Street from the west line of Highland Circle to the east line of Pershing Street; for the paving of Phillips Street from the north line of Prescott Avenue to the south line of Charles 5 reet; for the paving and grading of Roach Street from the north line of McAdams Riad south to he south line of Martin Avenue; for the curbing, guttering paving and grading of Roach Street from the south line of Minneapolis Avenue to the north line of Beloit Street; for the paving and grading of Wilson Street from the west line of Kerrison Road tot he east line of Sunrise Drive; for the paving and grading of Wilson Street from the east line of Roach Street to the west line of Sunrise Drive; and for the curbing, guttering and grading of Third Street from the north line of Harsh Avenue to the south line of Hamilton Avenue,and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." Commissioner Barcafer moved that City Manager be authorized to have The Kansas Power and Light Company install fourteen Wooden Poles Street Lights on Iron Avenue from Iowa to Marymount Road, at $18.00 or X252.00 per year. Miller, for the rezoning of Lots 114, 15, 16 and 17, HLock 11 Pershing Heights Addition to the City of Salina, Kan- sas from Zone "A" to Zone "B" be granted. Commissioner Barcafer moved to accept and City Clerk instructed to give thirty days notice in the official City paper. Carried. j Letter presented from City Planning Commission recommending that Petition Number 1452 filed by Ulton L. Amos for the rezoning of Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and the I North 1/2 of Lot 81 Block 1, South Park Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "C" be denied. Commissioner Barcafer moved to accept recommendation. Carried. Letter presented from N. L. Amos. Referred to the City Planning and Zon- ing Commission. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance levy- ing special assessments against certain property to pay the cost of constructing certain water service pipes and connections in certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas.."
