Meeting was called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger, Barcafer,i Cobb, Cunningham and Lake and City Attorney Clark responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 10, 1954 were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." i On motion of Commissioner Lake the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, I3-arcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5856. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance de- termining the necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requir- ing the filing of a plat and survey by the City Engineer with the City Clerk. On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the full ojg voMtaeo�aa had - sections Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays% Y pP the ordinance and it is Numbered 5857• An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance torr j demising certain lands within the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said City in opening and extending Franklin Avenue between the east boundary of Sunset Manor Addition to, the City of Salina and the west boundary of Southern Heights Addition to the City of Salina, fixing a benefit district therefor, and providing for the payment of the costs thereof." j On motion of Commissioner Cobb tre ordinance was read and adopted by sections ! and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Iiayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5858. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lot 19 on the corner of Republic and Osborne, a part of the Addition to the Grounds of Kansas Idesleyan University in the City of Salina, Kansas. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5519 and the Zoning District Map therein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within i the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to ' the Board of Cbmmissioners. ! i ! An ordinance was introduced for first reading relating to Bituminous Surfacing Specifications. Referred to the Board of CommissiorE rs. City Manager reported on Petition Number 1449 for the curbing and guttering I i of Shawnee Avenue from Seminole Avenue to Franklin Street. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to the curbing, guttering and gracing of Shawnee Avenue from the center line of Seminole Avenue to t he center line of Franklin Street." Resolution referred toihe Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading relating to condemnation of land for opening and extending Ohio Street. Referred to the Board of Commis- siom rs. Application presented for the transfer of Taxicab License Number 42 to Chad D. Daird. Approved by Commissioner Barcafer. Carried. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City kanager: Paving Eleventh from Franklin to Wilson Paving Eleventh from Franklin to Frost. Paving Franklin from Seminole to Shawnee. i 0 Petition presented for additional signers on Petition Number 1452 filed by M. L. Amos, for the rezoning to Zone "C", Lots 3, 4, 51 6, 7 and the North 1/2 of Lot 81 Block 110 South Park Addition, Salina, Kansas. Referred to the City Planning and Zoning Commission. Letter presented from Chas. L. Schwartz, relating to Flood Control. Referred to the City Engineer. Bid received for revisions to Hydrotreator Equipment for Water Softening Plant as follows: Salina Manufacturing Company $103480.00 Engineer's estimate n10,500.00 Commissioner Lake moved to accept bid of Salina I&nufacturing Company in the amount of X10,480.00. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the paving to a width of twenty-eight (28) feet of Front Street from the north line of Iron Avenue to the south line of Ash Street; paving to a width of twenty-eight (28) feet of Twelfth Street from the north line of Charles Street to .he north line of Crawford -Avenue; paving to a width of twenty-eight _ (28) feet of Wilson Street from the east line of Front Street to the west line of Kerrison Road; and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of the payment of the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. City 1danager reported it would cost $300.00 to build a Boat Ramp. Put on June 7th agenda. City Manager reported on Iron Avenue lights from Iowa to Jdarymount Road as follows: Same lights 22 @ 625.00 per year Total 050.00 Overhead 14 © X518.00 per year Total w252.00 Wood Poles Uverhead 14 @ $18.00 per year Total $460.00 Steel Poles. Referred to City Manager to check on Wood Turned Poles. On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the Board of Commissio;iers adjourned. City :Clerk
