Meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Lake, the roll was called and Commissioners Lake, Barcafer) Cobb and Cunningham and City Attorney Clark responded. Commissioner Wenger dabsent. j The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 3, 1954 were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading to a width of 40 feet, Crawford Avenue from the center line of Broadway Boulevard to the west line of Cherokee Drive." On motion of Commissioner Cobb resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Cobb, Gun- ningham and Barcafer (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1455. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 236 Resolution Book Number 5. An ordinance was introdu;ed for second reading entitled: "An ordinance rati- fying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending the issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Barcafer, Cobb and Cunningham (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5853• An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the amendment of Section 23-1103, Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, Kansas, 1948, and providing for the repeal of the original of said section." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance wasread and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: j Lake, Cobb, Cunningham and Barcafer (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5854. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance de- termining the necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requiring t e filing of a plat and survey thereof by the City Engineer with the City Clerk . " On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the ordinance was read and adopted by sec- tions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Lake, Barcafer, Cobb and Cunningham (4) Nays: (0) Commissioner Wenger absent. Acting Mayor approved the ordinance and it is numbered 5855. No persons appeared to protest against the rezoning of Lot 4, Block 46, Military Addition from Zone "B" to Zone "D". An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the amendment of Zoning Ordinance Number 5549 and the Zoning District kap, ti.erein and thereby adopted and providing for the rezoning of certain property within the City and prescribing the proper uses thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commi. s s i oner s . B. A. Breon filed Certificate and Plat for the Replat of Stock 4, Claflin's Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. Referred to the City Planning Commission. Petition presented from B. A. breon and Donald Williams for the construction of a sewer to serve Lots 1 to 18 inclusive, Replat Mock 42 Claflin's Addition to Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University. Referred to the City Manager. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance deter- mining the necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requiring the filing of a plat and survey by the City Engineer with the City Clerk." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance condemning certain lands within the City of Salina, Kansas, for the use of said City in opening and extending Franklin Avenue between the east boundary of Sunset Lanor Addition to the City of Salina and the west boundary 6f Southern Heights Addition to the City of Salina, fixing a benefit district therefor, and providing for the payment of the costs thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Petition was presented for the building of a public, small boat ramp to the Smoky Hill River in Oakdale Park. Referred to he City Manager. -- Petitionresented from ki.lton L. Amos for the rezoning of Lots 3, 4, 52 61 7 and the North 11 of Lot 81 Block 112 South Park Addition to District "C." Referred to the City Planning Commission. City Attorney instructed to have even numbered lots 6 to 42, Mock 22 and Lots 1, 2, 32 5, 6, 7 and 8, Block 3, VanTrine's Addition appraised for value. On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City Clerk
