YAY 3, 1954 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners May 3, 1954. hieeting was called to order by i:ayor Wenger, the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger, Cobb, Cunningham, Barcafer and Lake, and City Attorney Clark responded. The minutes of the Regular meeting of April 26, 1954 and leeting of Board of Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read. Pursuant to Notice published in the Salina Journal bids were received for the curbing, guttering and/or paving certain streets provided for in Engineer Job Number 320 as follows: L. W. Rexroad u Son $50,404.00 Brown and Brown, inc. $50,992.00 H.J.Taylor Construction Company X49,204.80 City Engineer's Estimate $53,734.00 Commissioner Barcafer moved that contract be awarded to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company as per bid submitted in the amount of :49,204.80 and checks returned to unsuccessful bidders. lotion adopted. j An ordinance was introdu_ed for first reading entitled: "An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract with the H. J. Taylor Construction Company for t'=ie construction of certain curbing, guttering, paving and grading improvements on certain streets in the City of Salina, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof pending t.e issuance and sale of bonds." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Mayor appointed J. Earl 'Fryatt, 4Vn. F. crosser aid Robert G. Frederick as appraisers for the cost of curbing, guttering, grading and paving improvements provided for _n Engineer Job :dumber 320. Approved by Commissioner Barcafer. ;tarried. City Manager reported on Petition dumber 114 for curbing, guttering.and paving Crawford Avenue from Broadway Boulevard to 'herokeO Drive. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A Resolution relat- ing to the curbing, guttering, paving and grading to a width of 40 feet, Crawford Avenue from the center line of Broadway Boulevard to the west line of Cherokee Drive." ,est o cation referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance determining tie necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requiring the filing of a plat and survey thereof by the City Engineer with the •City Clerk." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: j Weriger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance determining tie necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requiring the filing of a plat and survey thereof by the City Engineer with the City Clerk." Commissioner Barcafer moved that application be approved and license granted. lotion adopted. The following petitions were presented and referred to the City !tIanager: For a Stop Sign at Third and Antrim. For curbing and guttering Shawnee Avenue between Seminole Avenue and Franklin Street. For sanitary sewer to service Lots 1 to 18, Jstenberg Replat pf part of Blocks 1 and 2 Hageman Park Addition. Petition was presented for the rezoning of Lots 14, 15, 16 and 17, Block 1, Pershing Heights Addition from Zone "A" to Zone "B". Petition referred to the City Planning Commission. City Engineer filed Estimate regarding proposed Swimming Pools for the City of Salina, Kansas. Action deferred Until June 7th, 1954 Meeting. Wilson and Company, Engineers, filed Estimate Number 3 in the Amount of 51771,541.55 to helco inc., for Water Softening Plant. Approved by Commissioner Barcafer. Carried. City Attorney was instructed to write an ordinance increasing the width of Cloud Street from Ninth Street to Broadway Boulevard, an'addational ten feet. On motion of Commissioner Barcafer the Board of Commissioners adjourned. City lerk i i
