Meeting was called to order by Mayor Wenger, tide roll was called and the following responded to roll call: Commissioners tidenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunning.am and Lake, and City Attorney Clark. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 19th, 1954 and ideeting of Board of Zoning Appeals were read and approved as read. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution relating to tie paving of Phillips Street with 6" reinforced concrete, 28 feet wide back of curb to back of curb, from the north line of Morrison Avenue to the north line of Prescott Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the resolution was adopted as read and on � i its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays: (0) I►Iayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1454. i The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 235 Resolution Book IJum- i ber 5• City Engineer filed Plans and Specifications for curbing, guttering and paving certain streets provided for in Engineer Job No. 320. Commissioner i Barcafer moved to accept and City Clerk advertise for bids to be received up to and including Elonday, Lay 3rd, 1951 at 7:3U o'clock P. M. Carried. City Engineer filed Estimate of Cost for Ohio Street Bridge and improve- ment of Ohio Street from Elm Street to Cloud Street. Put on agenda for Tvay 31st meeting. The matter of Swimming Pools for the City of Salina was discussed by the Board of Commissioners. City Engineer instructed to prepare estimate figures for meeting of May 3rd, 1954. j The matter of opening Franklin Street from Shawnee Avenue to Hancock s Street was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. i An ordinance was introduced for first reading e titled: "An ordinance determining the necessity to appropriate certain real property for public use and requiring the filing of a plat and survey thereof by the City Engineer with the City Clerk." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter presented from Wiley D. Ganey, IJiajor General USAF, (Air Base Com- mander). Referred to City Manager for reply. Commissioner Barcafer moved that City IUianager appoint appraisers for land for park purposes, approximately 100 acres in Ohio Street opening area. Carried. Petition presented from Harry Banker to vacate Broadway Place from Crawford j Street, south 650 feet. Referred to City Planning Commission. I Letter presented from City Plani-dng Commission that Petition No. 1441, { filed by Rudolph Barta for the rezoning of Lots 13, 14, 15 and 16, Smith and Colvard's Addition from Zone "C" to Zone "D" be granted insofar as the same pertains to Lots 14, 15 and 16. It is recommended that the petition be denied as to Lot 13. Commissioner Lake moved to accept, and City Clerk give thirty days notice of intent I to rezone as required by law. Carried. Letter presented from City Planning Commission that Petition No. 1442 ? ! filed by Wm, D. Miller for the vacation of ten (10) feet of ground on the east side of Fourth jtreet between Republic Avenue and Claflin Avenue be denied. r w +Commissioner Cobb moved to accept andthe petition be denied. Application for Building Permit for the erection of a three -unit Duplex on the corner of Prescott Avenue and Highland Avenue was presented from George Eiherington. Commissioner Barcafer moved that Building Permit not be granted as outlined on Plat filed. Carried. On motion of Commissioner Barcafer .Board of Zoning Appeals adjourned. j City Clerk
