APRIL 12, 1954 I � Regular keet ing of the Board of Commissioners April 12, 1951, Meeting was called to order by Mayor Wenger, the roll was called and Commissioners Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake responded. City Attorney Clark absent. i The minutes of t he Regular Meeting of April 5, 1954 -were ead and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance i� ratifying and confirming a contract with H.J . Taylor Construction Company for the construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in the City of Salina, Kansas, here- tofore designated as Lateral Sanitary Sewer Districts 300 and 301, and providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof, pending issuance and sale of bonds." On motion of Commissioner Cobb the ordinance was read and adopted by sections • ! and on its finaladoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Bareafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the ordinance and it is Numbered 5847. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A Resolution j relating to the curbing, guttering and grading of Hemlock Drive from the north line of Lot 71 Block 9, Replat of Edgemere Addition to the center line of Redwood Drive." :7 F- I 0 On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Wenger, Barcafer, Cobb, Cunningham and Lake (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the resolution and it is Numbered 1450. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 231, Resolution Book Number 5. Petition Number 1427, for the opening of Franklin Street from Shawnee Avenue to Hancock Street was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Lake moved that City Attorney check further regarding Benefit District and Costs. Carried. Petition Number 1437 regarding zoning violation at 622 South Ninth Street was again taken up by the Board of Commissioners. Held over one week. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: 'tAn ordinance providing for the regulation of the hours and days of operation and the age of players at certain places of amusement in the City of Salina, Saline Count , Kansas, and providing for the amendment of Section 13-1105 and for the repeal of said section, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Salina, 1948." Ordinance referred to the Board of Commissioners. Letter presented from City Planning Commission that Petition Number 1440 filed on April 51 1954, for the rezord ng of Lot 19 on the corner of Republic Avenue and Osborne, a part of the Addition to the Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University, from Zone "Alt to Zone "B" be granted. Commissioner Lake moved to accept and City Clerk give thirty days notice as provided by law. Carried. Applications for Cereal Malt Beverage License presented from: Chas. J. Mallon d/b/a "Rainbow Tavern" 105 South Fifth Street Verna Wolfe d/b/a "Leo's Tavern" 107 North Seventh Street Commissioner Cunningham moved that applications be approved and license granted. Carried. An ordinance was introduced for firut reading entitled: "An ordinance pro- viding for the paving and grading of Frost S reet from the east line of Sherman Street tothe east line of Eleventh Street; f r the paving and grading of Sunrise Drive from the north line of Wilson Street to the south line of McAdams Road; for the paving and grading of Sunrise Drive from the north line of Morningside Drive tothe north line of Republic Avenue; and for the paving and grading of Washington Street from the west line of Twelfth Street t o t he west line of Phillips Street; and providing for the payment thereof, how the same shall a assessed,-nd the manner of the payment of the cost thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering and grading of South side of Ellsworth Avenue from the east line of Lewis Street to the west line of Ohio Street; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Fifth Street from the cneter line of Harsh Avenue to the center line of Hamilton Avenue; for the curbing, guttering and grading of the North side of Jewell Avenue from the center line of Ebiioh',Streett.to the center line of Ohio Avenue; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Lewis ,Street from the.north line of Jewell Avenue, north approximately 128 feet more or ess; for the curbing, guttering and grading of Lincoln Avenue from the center line of Chester Avenue to he center line of Arthur Avenue; for the curbing, guttering and grading of hissouri Avenue from the south line of Stack Avenue tothe south line of Gypsum Avenue; and for the curbing, guttering and grading of the west side of Ohio Avenue from the center line of Ellsworth Avenue to the center line of Jewell Avenue;and providing for the payment of the cost thereof, and horn the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment thereof." Ordinance was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Cunningham the Board of Commissioners adjourned.
